Hello everyone!
As I said last time, I'm making a little funding point so you can have an idea of where I stand.
As always, you need to remove the usual 10% on each site (+$20 on SS for the money transfer.)
It makes roughly $970 for SS and 127 170 Yen for Fanbox.
But wait, that's where it becomes fun.
This is the conversion rate for $1 in Japanese yen. Basically, until January 2022, things were stable. You roughly had $1 = 110/120 Yens. Except that it's been recently skyrocketing. We're currently close to $1 = 140 Yens. It might not look big but it's actually huge.
Back in the days, with 127 170 Yen, I was above the $1,000 amount. Right now, this amounts to $945. I've made a simulation with July 2021 rates. The same amount of Yens would've meant $1,155. The conversion rate is currently deadly (well, on my side, cause it means it's much more affordable on your side from a $/€ to Yen conversion.) I'm losing more than $200 in the process.
Add to that the fact that ever since the first version of Slice of School came out, I either lose patrons every months or pledges get lowered and I'm back to a rough global of $1,915.
I know some of you might think it's a lot, but it's not ^^' Thankfully we're in a period where the $ is very strong to the € so it's roughly 1€ = $0,95. So paying people in Euros is fine. But just take this month's expense so you can have an idea:
- Peak's wage is 600€ (I raised him myself because, well, the original plan was that we were supposed to earn enough to give him a real wage, but it's not going the right way for that :/)
- Kai made one $118 coloring/background design in June.
- I asked nito for more than $800 worth of content for TH2 (for this one, let's split it in 3 cause I don't ask him stuff every month, so let's pretend it's only $266)
That's $984.
And I'm not counting the money I have to pay for Blue Axolotl Editions' translations/editing (paradoxically, right now, it's the BAE income that allows me to fill some holes ^^'), as well as me being a fucktard and commissioning the guy making animal dicks to have a new one for the future in TH2 ($90).
Even if I put that on the side, I'm left with $1,000 from which I only get $750 (I remind you I pay 25% of taxes as a company here in France.)
So yeah, things are a bit tricky ^^' It's not catastrophic, but when I think about the future without Peak, I'm seriously considering the possibility to stop 2D content. That costs A LOT. Sure, people prefer 2D, but when it's too niche like my stuff it doesn't gather enough :/
Anyway, we'll see how the future evolves, but I've stopped fantasizing about a possible outbreak. At the end of this year I'll have been around for 10 years and now I know I'll never reach SoV2's income ever again. That's terrible because people complain that games are never finished but when you do it, you're stabbed in the back XD I understand people making their game development last forever...
