Where to Buy "Architect of Worlds"
Rather to my surprise, I have enough new material for you this month that it warrants a full release. The attached is "Pentheus at Bay," a brand new novelette (about 15600 words) set in the Fourth Millennium universe, portraying events just after the death of that world's Alexander the Great.
I've been getting some other work done on Fourth Millennium, and I think you can look forward to some news on that setting in July. Keep an eye out for my planning and status...
2024-06-30 22:47:34 +0000 UTC View PostAs with last month, this month's update is coming out a bit early. Not only am I going to be pretty busy with office work and university finals in late May, but I'm also about to finish putting together my package for the Chaosium design challenge, including a version of this document.
This update includes about 4,000 words of new material, including stubs for all the incomplete sections to indicate what kind of content is eventually going to go there.
I haven't decided yet what I...
2024-05-21 21:04:18 +0000 UTC View PostAt very long last, here we are: the final release copy of Architect of Worlds. As of this weekend, Ken Burnside and I have finished edits to the book, and he's busy getting started with PDF sales, printing, and shipping. Which means, for those of you at the Intermediate level and above, that you get a copy of the final release PDF. I'll also be sending copies directly to a few "patrons emeritus" and other individuals who have contributed to playtesting the book, even if...
2024-05-11 22:01:43 +0000 UTC View PostI'm releasing this month's incremental update a few days early, because the next week or so is going to be just insane (because of office work and preparation for exams in my university courses) so I need to set this project aside for a bit. Hoping to return to it after the first of the month, so I can get it ready for submission to the Chaosium design challenge.
For now, this update only has a few thousand words of new material in it, so it's free to you. We'll see how ne...
2024-04-23 19:51:52 +0000 UTC View PostOkay, let's try this again. Attached please find a PDF of version 0.51 of the Human Destiny sourcebook. There's actually a fair amount of new material here - word count is up about 9,000 words from last month - and I did a lot of minor revisions throughout the text.
Even so, this probably wouldn't reach the threshold for a charged release, but as I mentioned a few days ago the Version 0.50 release doesn't appear to have actually been charged for, so I'm going to make e...
2024-03-31 20:44:47 +0000 UTC View PostThere have been some developments in the "why didn't the February release get charged for" front, and the plan for this month is therefore going to change a bit.
I've done some research, and there's no reason why the leap day should have made a difference in whether the February release would have been charged on 1 March or not. It's been almost a year since I charged you folks for anything, and Patreon has changed its interface since then. Near as I can tell, what happened was that I m...
2024-03-29 00:17:33 +0000 UTC View PostPatreon is being a bit weird at the moment, so I thought I had better leave a quick note for you to let you know how March is likely to shake out.
The charged release I sent out on 29 February . . . never got charged, as far as I can tell. The fact that it went out on the leap day may have something to do with that. If that's the case, you're all likely to be charged for it this month, on 1 April.
Rather than push out another charged release in the next few days,...
2024-03-25 13:33:56 +0000 UTC View PostThis is the first charged release I've issued in almost a year. This is version 0.50 of the Human Destiny Setting Bible and RPG Sourcebook, a substantially revised version of material you last saw on the order of two years ago. This version of the partial interim draft is focused on the Basic Roleplaying game system (BRP), and if and when the book is ever formally published it will be under the ORC license.
Have a look at the "Version Information" section of this...
2024-02-29 23:41:07 +0000 UTC View PostFolks, if you're currently supporting me at the Intermediate ($2) level or higher, you can expect to receive a free copy of the "Architect of Worlds" ebook once that's available. That also applies to a few "patrons emeritus" who aren't currently at that level but were at some time in the past, or who have been particularly helpful during playtesting. You'll get that directly from me.
Meanwhile, Ad Astra Games is offering a discount on pre-orders of the "Architect of Worlds"
It's been quite a while since I released anything new for you, while I focused for most of the last year on getting Architect of Worlds ready for release. Time to change that! Starting next month I'm likely to be starting to work on original fiction and game material again, so you may start seeing charged releases again, but for now here's something to whet your appetite.
This is a bit of fan-fiction, and therefore a free reward for you. A bit of improvisation on the t...
2024-01-31 19:17:07 +0000 UTC View PostFolks, I'm very close to the point of finalizing the title page for Architect of Worlds.
As part of that, I intend to publicly acknowledge two sets of my patrons: (1) those who were at the Advanced Support level as of 1 January 2024; and (2) certain patrons and other readers who may not presently be at the Advanced Support level, or in fact may never have been at that level, but who have substantially assisted with "playtesting" the book during development.
If yo...
