The Hunter 2 v0.21 Log #8


Hello everyone,


I'm starting to lack interesting stuff to show, unfortunately ^^' I probably have stuff to show for two posts (including this one) before I run out of interesting pics ^^'


Since we're in June, now, might as well use that post to show the most interesting thing I have left: Kaya's new outfit (and how everything will work.)


I probably mentioned it at some point (or not, I don't remember :x) But throught the experience of the first game, I've always planned TH2 to have clothes changing that would be situational. Meaning that Kaya could wear a different set of clothes but only withing a specific area where the scenes would be done in that outfit. Exactly like the laboratory in the first game. I do have a first sequence planned for that (it's taking time to arrive because I ended up mixing that story part with another bigger thing so it was delayed for longer.)


But the thing is: I like playing in hard mode :x (after all some of you saw me playing Elden Ring and dying for one hour straight to the same boss 8D)


So I decided I'd change things a bit. Sure I'll probably curse myself at the end of the game dev when this choice will lead to easily 100 extra renders just for that but... I'll deal with that once I'm there :x


So now, Kaya will be able to have extra outfits that you'll be able to equip.


Hold your horses right now before jizzing everywhere. I'm not COMPLETELY inconscient either. I'm perfectly aware that if I do that on a game scale, it's going to be a nightmare VERY quickly (it could already be just with the current content of the game.) So I kinda split possibilities to make things bearable for me and enjoyable for you.


Kaya's equiped outfit will be working in "dungeons" only. By dungeon, I mean any place that is not friendly (Ambriosa and Ominira, of course, but also any place unlocked in the game where NPCs are friendly.) However it doesn't necessarily means "place with battles". That's why I want to make the difference. It's totally possible I create a spot at some point with neutral/hostile NPCs that you could sex without going through the battle screen. In THAT specific case, the outfit works (but yeah, most of the time, it'll be for places where there will be battles.)


Let's first reveal Kaya's new outfit


We're completely going to the sports side of things. But more of the "training" part of it :p


So here are how things will work. First, you need to find the corresponding element to unlock this outfit as craftable in the outfit shop. When you have the necessary materials and money you can craft it and get it in your inventory. Once it's done you can select it. To make sure you're wearing it, the status screen will show Kaya's new outfit (it's here for that after all.)


Wearing it won't change anything inside towns. However, if you you go to the Oblivion Forest...


The charset will change (all possible animations will have this outfit variation.)


And during the battles, everything will be changed accordingly:

So yes, if you take the (possible amount of creatures to fight at the end of the game X the possible amount of outfits X the possible amount of Kaya skills), that will make a sliiiiiiiiiiiight increase of picture :x It's not THAT terrible as the posing is already done, it's just a question of rendering. But the game will surely be heavy as fuck at the end XD And I keep my sanity because I have to do that only for battle pics and a small selection of scenes. Just thinking about doing it for every scenes involving Kaya in the game makes me shivers.


That's for the modulable part of things. As I mentionned in a previous log, there are also quickies. Getting this outfit will allow you to trigger very short cutscenes where Kaya actually trains (she gets it for that originally :x) and you might fall on a couple of short H scenes where she'll be wearing it. But here, we're going back to the "area-locked" style: She's wearing it because of the context (she's training.) So it's the only outfit available for those scenes. Here's a little post training pic that you'll fall on at some point ;)

Anyway, I hope you'll like those new elements. I'm VERY satisfied by everything surrounding this mechanic (both the choice of dungeon-only and the quickies possibilities) as well as Kaya's overall outfit. It's simple, but it works very well for me 8D


I shot my best cartridges with those previews so the next post will be a bit lighter (but it still contains new characters :p)

Choosing "naked" as an outfit is planned. But considering what it entails, it'll be the very last outfit I'll implement in the game ^^'
