You are 100% right about Light's 'snapping' once he murdered someone. He can't reconcile his own self-image with the image of a criminal, so he 'evelated' himself as a god to avoid it, and then from then any act he does is technically justified for the greater good... I hate people who think that Light was 'bad' or a 'psychopath' from the beginning. Chances are, Light would have never done anything wrong in his life had he not find the Death Note. People - especially 17 years old teenagers - just shouldn't be given the power to kill like that.
