An Opportunity for Professional Development
Added 2020-09-27 15:25:20 +0000 UTCTLDR: Nicky is temporarily deviating from the regular Friday release schedule, during October and November, in order to participate in NaNoWriMo and write a complete fantasy novel. New stories will still be released.
For anyone who hasn't heard of it, November is National Novel Writers Month, or NaNoWriMo. It is an ambitious project to take on--50k+ words in 30 days--and it's something that I have wanted to do for a while now.
The time has never been ideal, and I realize that there will always be an excuse not to do it, but this year looks like as good a chance as I will ever get. Beyond that, I want to take my writing to a new level, and I believe moving from short stories to novels and novellas is the way to go.
I'm going for it, and that means I will need to make a few temporary changes here. The month of October (or "Preptober") will be filled with studying, worldbuilding, character development, and outlining so that I can start the actual writing on November first. For this reason, I will be deviating from the regular Friday release schedule until December. I will still be releasing new stories, however I want working on the novel to be my main focus, free of other rigid deadlines.
In order to take advantage of the NaNoWriMo community during this process, I have decided not to write an erotic novel this time, but rather a fantasy novel. The experience of planning, organizing, and writing a novel will lead to better content for you in the future--especially with Smoke and Drums and Howl.
I expect to come out of this a far better writer than I am now, refreshed, and ready to work on publishing some erotic novels/novellas.
I will be posting a poll shortly to ask your opinion on this.
Cheers,
~Nicky

That’s fantastic news. Good for you. Writing a novel teaches so much regardless of what you do with it. Good for you.
