[Early Access] Foundry Module - Monster Request Monster Hunter Monsters

Hello everyone, and Happy 2025!

I have a ton of work planned for this year, some of which I’ve already shared on the Patreon Discord. One major goal is upgrading the Monster Hunter Foundry Module to the 4.0.0+ ruleset, which introduces “activities” and makes significant backend changes.

With Midi-Qol and other mods entering beta for 4.0.0+, I updated the script I created last year to meet the new JSON requirements. It took me about two weeks , mainly because I had to split actions into separate parts so they could generate multiple activities—something many actions now require.

I also added several improvements to the script, including:

Additionally, I’ve set flags for no damage, full damage, and half damage on saving throws, though you might notice that the first half of monsters in the request file default to half damage.

To test these functions, I ran the script on all the Monster Hunter “Monster Request” monsters that aren’t frontier monsters (those will eventually be updated for paid Patreon members when they vote for the monsters in the monthly vote). This process helped me discover and fix some errors in the original stat blocks, which I’ll correct in this month’s Request Manual update at the end of the month.

Finally, rather than making this an exclusive release for paid Patrons, I decided to give them early access and use it to show everyone how the monsters will appear in the future 5eMonsterHunter Foundry 4.0.0+ module update for my Foundry tier patrons later this year.

For Free Tier Patrons or Non Foundry Tier Patrons

Because this is a free module, please note that the monster materials for the few monsters with loot tables do not include images. These material icons are only available with paid tiers. However, you can still obtain status icons from the 5eMH subreddit or by searching Patreon. If you want the images to auto-populate in Foundry, place them in the following folder path:

\modules\5eMonsterHunter\assets\Status Icons

For Foundry Tier patrons, the 5eMonsterHunter files is Patron Foundry Module folder. Simply add the Status Icons folder to that same module folder you already have.

I also don’t provide tokens for these monsters because most of them are based on fandom creations with no official artwork. If you like, you can use the base creature’s token and adjust the token tint to differentiate them.

I hope you enjoy the content. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in the Discord or on this post, and I’ll do my best to help. Thank you for your support—stay tuned for more work in the coming months!

Question regarding monster tokens...Are those available to be used for other non-foundry VTT's? I tried the monster materials on Owlbear Rodeo and those worked fine but no luck with finding the actual monster tokens and wasn't sure if that was a foundry only kind a thing or I just did it wrong

I honestly don't know if I will do any updates to the weapons, but in the past, I have turned some of them into feats. So that is a possibility.

One quest: When Wilds comes out, and you incorporate the new monsters into the manual, do you have plans to add the weapon modifications, too? The devs mentioned they were balancing those out to be on par with the more prominent weapons for viability. Also, is weapon switching, like in Wilds, a thing, or is it not due to characters already wielding more than one weapon?
