Zorah Magdaros: A Stat Block of Sorts + Loot Table

Now available for all Patrons

Hello Everyone,

Earlier this month I released a battle map of the zorah magdaros. Today I am bringing you a stat block of sorts for the zorah magdaros. This stat block used the mega tarrasque created by DM Dave and other content creators as a template.

What this means, is this stat block isn't normal. Instead the zorah itself provides a template to all the other body parts in the stat block for resistances, immunities, traits, and details how many and what type of actions and reactions the creature can do. So in essence, the body parts themselves are the actual challenge in this hunt.

Each of them have unique actions, traits, and synergies with other body parts. The overall goal of the fight is to weaken the Zorah's shell using siege weapons, then traveling across its body as magma cores are revealed to destroy them. By destroying these magmacores, you weaken the damage threshold required to damage its head, which is the actual goal of this fight.

With how it all works this creature doesn't really have a CR, but you should still get experience for completing this hunt, or atleast stalling the zorah. So I attempted to determine the CR of each body part and provide an amount of experience for destroying each body part or a total amount of experience if you kill the zorah; which for most of you might just be a narrative of it slowing down as it breaks through the barricades and then dying out in the middle of the ocean before reaching the new world (or some other land mass it was traveling to).

After the stat block in the attached PDF, I have made some notes (some close to what I wrote above) but also how I would envision running an encounter with this monster.

You will also find the map from earlier this month in this post, to save you some time if you didn't grab it earlier. Overall I hope you like this "stat block" and please feel free to reach out if you have questions.

I would like to note, I do not know the balance on this encounter. It is a bit funky with how its setup works, but I do believe this should be a doable fight with a group of four 17-20th level PCs. It is possible it could be done with lower levels as well, but the damage output of Zorah might prevent that. On my final note, I do want to create stat blocks and loot tables for lower level versions of this encounter. That way you can send your level 10 or even level 5 party on a siege against it, with appropriate loot tables for the levels as well.

That will happen in the future, but for now I am going to let this zorah get some play testing before I make lower level versions of it.

Do you happen to have the grid size for the Zorah Map on hand? I've been trying to get the map fitted for a Roll20 game but no matter how big or small i make it, it feels like it just wont fit into the grid correctly
