Monster Hunt: Cold Stones

Hello Everyone,

This months hunt is a little different than normal. In this hunt we bring back every players favorite part of the monster hunter videogames... A GATHERING QUEST!!! I know it is super exciting and all of you can't wait to dive in to the hunt. 

This hunt is a new challenge and my first attempt at creating a gathering quest without it being boring. In the hunt, the players are tasked with gathering 8 bloodstones while traveling around the frozen seaway and dealing with the monsters and other challenges they encounter. 

To help minimize the idea of the slog a gathering quest can be, I made it so that the PCs can find at least 1 bloodstone in every area they travel to. I set a perception check DC and Athletics check DC as a medium to hard difficulty instead of making it insanely difficult checks and requiring a lower number of bloodstones. In addition to this, I set some of the complications  to have bloodstones as rewards for completing them, such as the one with two baby gammoth's who are playing catch with a bloodstone.

Not only that, there is still CR 6-10 monster that is part of this hunt. Once the players collect the first 7 blood stones, the final bloodstone is located in the lair of a monster. I am avoiding stating which monster it is to avoid spoilers for my HR5 and HR7 patrons, but I think it will provide not only a challenge to kill, but also require some strategy to not get overrun.
