Monday Update!

Welcome to your weekly Monday Update, making the worst day of the week a liiiiiiiittle better. I’m your host Panzer, and, as usual, thank you again for your support! Our work on the website is continuing at a very promising, steady pace, thanks to some newfound help and assistance. We’ll keep you updated as progress is made!

Today I’d like to discuss the reason I’ve been a part of the LuvBites team - The Camp Soumet Visual Novel!

As I’m sure most of you know, our website currently hosts an HTML-based Visual Novel about our main cast of characters: Brooke, Corin, the mysterious Escort, and Vincent himself. Believe it or not, this little game is what drew me to LuvBites in the first place. It had such great art, such an interesting story, and of course it was really sexy too!

Well, as it so happens, I love making visual novels - and games in general! I have college experience in the field, and while I found it wasn’t my lifelong calling, making little, manageable games is entertaining and fun. So I took my skills and - source files in hand - got to work! I’m happy and proud to announce that along with our new website, both chapters of the Camp Soumet Visual Novel will be getting an updated re-release, for free, online, and mobile compatible in pure HTML. I’m calling it…

VN+

This announcement comes in two parts:

Part 1: Engine

So the original Camp Soumet Visual Novel was made in WebStoryEngine, a rather lightweight HTML engine that Vincent (real one, not the character) liked because it exported in pure HTML. Well, while it worked as an engine, it didn’t offer the flexibility I knew I could work with to make something that looked and felt more unique. So I took the script, the character assets, and everything else from WebStory, and ported it over to TyranoScript! (Both currently released chapters in two days, mind you!)

This allows the game to do many things. For one, TyranoScript is a language that’s made monumentally easier with its subsidiary program, TyranoBuilder. TyranoBuilder is an application (with a very convenient GUI) that makes the rearranging, construction, addition, and management of assets, scenes, and characters a million times easier, as well as having the testing of certain parts of certain scenes happen whenever. And it’s royalty free!

TyranoScript as an engine is also a new, added plus. As seen above, having a custom-made UI will make the game stand out more, something that WebStory couldn’t offer. On top of that, music and visuals are easier to export and manage, and the engine allows for custom fonts and formatting. It’s bigger, better, and easier to do everything and anything! And still runs in pure, 100% HTML - no downloads required, mobile supported!

And all of this will mean that after the asset creation phase, Chapter 3 of the VN will be out sooner than ever!

Part 2: Content

That’s right - we’re investing in the stories and in the re-releases!

New scenes, new assets for existing scenes, new music - Not only does the world of Camp Soumet look better, there’s more to it this time around as well! Extra content that helps the story and gives something for veterans to enjoy coming back to. It won’t take away from the story, but it will give everything just a little more to get it where it needs to be! And of course, who’d argue with getting to see Brooke make that face a few more times~?
