Friday Update - May 8, 2020

Hello Patrons and public alike!

Christ, what a week.

For those of you who don't know, which is why I'm making this post public, I had an issue late last week. Last Thursday/Friday I began having extreme pain in my ear. It turns out that the skin in the ear is super tight. So when you get an abscess in your inner ear and it swells up, the pain is rather acute.

I couldn't sleep. It hurt all the way down to my jaw. It literally hurt like hell just to move the hair off my ear.

Went to the Urgent Care, which is also the ER at this small-ish hospital near me. I was hoping they'd stick a needle in there and pop whatever was causing all this pain, but the doctor said no. Not only that, but he gave me a CT scan because he didn't know how serious it was. I guess sometimes the infection can go down to the teeth, eck.

It turns out I had an inner ear infection which was burning down through the lymph nodes.

His treatment was to blast me with antibiotics through an IV, and send me home with a pain pill and antibiotic pills. He also gave me a shot of something for the pain through the IV.

That lasted for about 4-5 hours. At night I was stuck unable to sleep again. I could feel my heartbeat through my ear constantly.

The doctor had me come back the next day to see my progress. "It's about the same" I told them. "Good," the doctor said. "At least it hasn't gotten worse." I wanted to kill the bastard.

I told him if he's not going to drain it then he needs to give me something for the pain, because that was two days with maybe a couple hours of sleep. He sent me home with what was essentially a cocktail of painkillers.

I was awake for maybe 8 hours over the next 2-3 days. The mixture of narcotics and lack of sleep just knocked me the hell out. Then I finally got some blood coming out of the ear and the pain started rapidly going away.

Now I can still feel a little pain when chewing. But I can actually touch my ear. I'd estimate I'm at around 60-70% hearing as well, so that's a big improvement. I've been off the painkillers for a couple of days and I'm finally getting back to normal.

So what's this mean for Unleashed?

Well, it ain't great. I lost a week. There was just no way I could work. That means 0.5 will probably not come out in May. I am, however, nearly back up to 100% production (I expect to be at 100% tomorrow) and there is no chance of a 0.4-like delay happening again.

You'll begin seeing some more renders from me here on Patreon to make up for the lost week as well. I apologize for my absence and lack of content.
