Belted ender - dual Z bottom mounted motor

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Success!! 15mm Yellow spring worked great and red springs did too and are the final recommend ones, with nozzle on the bed, I'm getting a 118hz note when plucking the belt, and both belts are within 1hz of each other.

A "limited" model on printables - all thanks to my patrons, wouldn't happen without them!!

one axle option, one bearing option to keep it simple.

Full model + STEP: Download here

confirmed working release - In the shop (included with patronage)

Has additional bearing and axle size option, and of course you can send your requests.

NO PRINT SUPPORT

I printed mine in PETG.

PLA might work except for the motor mount which will need PETG or better.

ABS and ASA are of course great for this.

make it a strong print:

yeah we can brainstorm and figure something out for it. see you on discord!

I just received the kit, the quality leaves much to desire. I believe I got the Dual-Z-F623 version. My intention is to use separate and independent z motors. I was hoping to be able to get a kit of sorts but never mind, I'll have to do this properly and go by your BOM. I am going to print those large 80 teeth rollers though(cost saving). I haven't written anything jet but I joined your discord in order to discuss possibilities of using this mod with a CR10S Pro V2. It isn't a great fit but I am prepared to disassemble the hole printer in order to cut holes through the case to expose the profiles. Se you in discord.

which version did you get ? you'll be able to use some of the stuff from it (like belt, looped belt and pulley), then based on the version you'll be able to use the long rod (single motor), or the short ones (dual z) sadly won't be able to use any of the ball bearings. And which model would you be building? the mechanically synced one (with long rod) or individual z (requires 5 stepper drivers)

Squirrelf

I really like this, a few hours ago I went through ordering a kit for the POWGE kevinakasam belt mod, but this one is far more attractive. Perhaps I can utelize some of the parts of that kit. In case someone wants to know: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/1005003933709487.html

new zip is up, has all the STLs with mechanically linked top, also added 148bearing option. Will updated it again with more renders and info soon

Squirrelf

I actually already included the bottom 8mm rod version in the latest zip, uses 60mmx8mm rods (can be longer will just stick out a bit, but nothing will interfere it) And now finish up the top mounted long rod model which I'll be posting that very shortly, which will use a 230mmx8mm rod (or longer, so stock lead z screw would work). 8mm rod on top can be used with 8mm or 5mm rod on the bottom. for the 8mm rod variant, each corner will need two 688 bearing (so eight total if doing 8mm top and bottom), and GT2 20t 8mm timing pulley (so four total with 8mm bottom and top axis) The non spring version works great and was tested (was just a bit annoying to tighten the belt, not hard but just require a lot of tiny turns of the hex tool). And I currently have the spring version on my printer also working great. (going to test other springs that will be delivered tomorrow)

I've been long hoping for a dual-Z belted bedslinger upgrade with bottom-mounted motors since I first saw it implemented on the LH Stinger: cleaner build, lower center of gravity from fast-print shaking. Can you have part variants for8mm rods at both the bottom pulleys and top via 1 long 8mm rod? From my experience with Kevinakasam's belted ender build, you can mechanically sync the top pulley section with the stock lead screw rod (8mm diameter)

Gialan Tonthat

yes it would too, but with individual stepper driver you can do a z tilt before each print to get it back aligned. And with single stepper, yeah would be between the two top pulley, which will require some 8mm bore pulley, and some 628 bearing (or something along those line), will be an easy tweak after this first version is done, so I'll likely have it ready within a day or so after.

I'm not saying 'pull and tighten' is the right way to go I was just wondering. I have built a Voron and KevinAkasams mod, and they both have a method to tighten that driving belt. Voron uses a simple lever which pushes the motor into the right position and therefore tension. Kevinakasam uses a screw mechanism to alter the position of the motor.

TryingtodomypartY

with 2 drivers if power off the alignement could go away too. The sync you mention could be a road between the to pulley on the top from

marc gautsch

Regarding the small belt on my initial prototype and as rendered you'd slip the belt like a bicycle chain, but will change it to pull and tighten.

Squirrelf

It would work but could go out of alignment when the motor are powered off, once mechanically sync that wouldn't be an issue anymore and definitely can share a stepper driver

Squirrelf

Not gonna lie, I'm itching to start printing on this mod. I've got most of the BOM already but have ordered the missing bits already.

TryingtodomypartY

Oh right, it's 188 2gt 6mm

Squirrelf

I can't see any method to tension the belt running over the 80t and the motor 20t pulleys. Is it just pull it tight and clamp it down? Also the tenative BOM above is missing the 6mm timing belts; I'm estimating 2 meters of GT2 belt and 2 looped belts of unknown length...

TryingtodomypartY

For Z motor if you avoid Z tilting possibility a A stepper board with Y splitter could do the job No?

marc gautsch

Nice setup avoiding leadscrew

marc gautsch

same - top mounted dual z from kevinakasam. The only issue I've had with it is the method the belt is clamped and tensioned on the back, it has failed a few times for me. However my printer is currently out of commision so this might be a fun project to restore it to a working state.

TryingtodomypartY

I'm running Kevinakasam's version but definitely liking this design better
