1.3.0 Progress Update / Details

Hello! I just wanted to share a little on how the progress of the journal update is going, especially with how long it is taking.

The Wait

This coming update is pretty much uprooting the core system of Backloggd with how Plays currently work. Especially with how much user data is stored in Plays, it's very important that the transition goes smoothly. So this lead to a lot of planning beforehand, and then that lead to re-planning and that even more so. Eventually I was able to come up with a system that I'm happy with (with a ton of help from the awesome people on the Discord ❤) and implementation began!

What's Changing

The current plan is to essentially split the journal into two sections, a log and a journal. 

The log will be for all current progress on that specific game. Here will be your one and only rating, all the platforms you've played it on, your definitive review, most recent played date, and current game status. Essentially this is where you define all your definitive progress with a game.

The journal will be for the nitty-gritty with when and how the game was played. You'll be able to keep track of multiple playthroughs, each having their own platform and review. Within the playthroughs you can chart out every date you played that game. Then attach statues to dates if choose to, such as when you "Completed" it and then when you "Mastered" it.

Doing it this way allows for the quick logging that most users come for, while still having the details for those who want them.

The Progress

You may have noticed the percentage isn't changing much in the other 1.3.0 post but that's for a good reason. I have a list of tasks I want to complete for 1.3 and that percent is the num. of tasks I completed vs not. Many of them are large tasks such as "Reimplement Journal" so while I am making progress on it, it's not completed so it can't be ticked off. Just wanted to clarify that good work is still being made 😊
