Here's some thoughts about this case: 1. I always love when we get a psycho as a culprit, most of the time we end up feeling bad about the culprit when we hear the motive but I think having someone who's simply that crazy makes things more realistic. 2. I avoid mentioning things about Akai cause I feel like everything would be spoilerish and ruin the aura of mistery around him, let's leave it to the show to answer those questions 😊 3. The way Ran felt about saving a murderer or whoever might become one is understandable, that thought would cross my mind too, but I think it would be even worse if she didn't. If you have the chance to save someone and you don't do it, does that make you any different from being a murderer yourself? Knowing Ran's personality, she would blame herself even more and regret it for the rest of her life. 4. The post ending scene about the serial killer is something you should keep in mind, you'll get answers later on, Shinichi says it doesn't make sense for someone who's about to commit suicide to erase their own prints, therefore he assumes another person killed him and erased the fingerprints, it's natural to ask yourself who killed him, did it myself first time I watched it, but there's another question that might be more food to thought for you, why would said person erase the victim's prints.
