Parallax will be updating to 1.2.0 shortly. With another major version change, there are some major improvements!
The gif above (38.9 MB) shows approximate collision with the displaced surface. You can see the spheres making their way down the terrain - This is something I'm trying to implementing in-game now. It's still not confirmed whether this will be a feature yet, since there are quite a few obstacles to overcome.
Another major improvement is to performance! I'm moving away from Triplanar Mapping (sampling a texture on all 3 axes) and switching to Biplanar Mapping (sampling a texture on all axes in one pass, then blending them together). This should yield a performance improvement of ~33% on top of the 100% performance improvement introduced by Adaptive Parallax in update 1.1.0.
This means more devices will be able to run the mod and have extra resources to use elsewhere!
