Sotka's Lights - 04

I'm so chuffed I've managed to finally finish this scene.

I'd love to hear your opinions on how things look so far with this style. Especially if it's clear enough to read as is.

That's spot on! Jáhko is a very sensitive child and I want to have a go at portraying all the stimuli he's subject to, be it touch, sound, smell or sight (taste.. might be stretching it visually but it'd be interesting to try and portray it somehow since it's affected by smell). The world to him is very colourful and vibrant, usually joyful but also overwhelming and overstimulating which has its drawbacks. There are so many creatures, spirits and methods of dealing with them that I want to introduce. I'm really looking forward to drawing it all and I sincerely hope it'll stir something in the readers too.

Thank you for your answer. :-) I hope you'll indulge this follow-up question: it's not clear to me how 'colouring' is actually perceived. I mean, we reader see it as some sort of... well, I'd call it a "pretty and colourful playfully dancing stream of light". But how do characters actually perceive it within the story? And with which senses? In our world, I know that nature spirits (and other subtle phenomena) can be perceived through different senses depending on the person... some people having more inclination towards clear-seeing, clear-hearing, -feeling... or even -smelling (tho I'll admit not having yet heard of anyone's mystical experiences of clear-tasting). So I'm guessing that perception of magic in the Tistow-verse may not be purely confined to hearing or sight.

That's such a super inspiring comment, thank you so much ♥ I really look forward to sharing more. It's a bit of both! Anyone can sing, anyone can learn to draw, so therefore anyone can colour. Some folk are born with a headstart for it but it's still something you have to practice and perfect in order to use it to its full potential.

It's... lovely, tender, full of feels... The page speaks of sadness and pain (I also suffered from bullies at that age)... and friendship. But to me, the fabric on which all this is painted is... Love. The style you use here is beautiful. It stands up on its own, perfectly clear and legible, while being delightfully soft, light an fluffy. And it does not, in any way, need to be compared to the style used in Tistow. Is Fjoldi 'colouring' a natural ability, such that little Jáhko is so naturally singing this magic? Or must it be taught, practised and perfected? Or both perhaps, just like the skill of singing itself.

Also this scene got so much emotion even or maybe because of without dialog and it makes me sad but also super proud for the brush action. Protect those boys, they are too precious.

It's super beautiful Elli and I love the softness and the colours and the snow looks so cold but still comfy. Very cool style and similar to Tistow yet different.
