Pseudocarnotaurus

Had they not become extinct, pseudosuchians could have probably evolved into abelisaur-like forms. I named this one Pseudocarnotaurus.

One of the main difference between pseudosuchians and later theropod dinosaurs was at their heel bones. Pseudosuchians, like Poposaurus shown above, had protruding, crocodile-type heels; while the dinosaurs, like the real Carnotaurus shown below, had an "avemetatarsalian" condition in which the foot joint was more bird-like.

This is thought to have given them an edge in mobility, helping them out-compete pseudosuchians and other early forms.

Hope this was a nice glimpse into my rigorous spec-evo thinking process. Thank you all for supporting me on Patreon - and beyond!

Yeah - basically a world of flat-footed retro dinosaurs. Thanks for your kind words!

Awesome concept as always, saved that colored illustration to my library 😎😎

I wonder if there's a scenario that what if other archosaurs from Triassic survive and thrive in the place of dinosaurs if they went extinct, that would be a neat possibility, I would imagine the appearance of their descendants that look like the old Victorian depictions of their dinosaurian cousins. Pretty neat Pseudocarnotaurus indeed, sire.
