The story takes place on the day when Jack leaves for Tistow, in a border town called Kirkald. This is also the canal town that's mentioned briefly by Morrie in Chapter 1.
You'll meet Jack, his grandmother and little sister Ida, along with Jack's childhood friend Veeti and his mother Sire. Veeti and Sire are cameos from Mika's comic Year in Hereafter.
