stealth part one

you can't even see it

stealth part one

Comments

You have to see the latest one on YouTube about the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. I haven't laughed so hard in ages. One of their best for sure.

Ade Akili

Artemis was a fun book

Mitch Guerrerio

LOL @ "special interest in getting killed by household appliances" - thank you Devon <3

Ot de Wiljes

I laughed very hard at "manual altitude check." Incredible improvisation!

Brooke

Me, too, I feel like I am getting a lot of bang for my Hi-Vis $2 per month chug. How am i supposed to get any work done with all these unheard episodes in front of me? Christ on a crutch.

GSpring

omg this show is seriously funny. jesus tits.

GSpring

1:11:14 I'm assuming that wasn't supposed to be there? Don't want to dox anyone

Raphael Levine

real tbh, i like cool machines but at a certain point glazing the MIC feels kinda pepega. Idk. I think it's why I've always kinda lost interest past like, the late 50's with planes. I can cheer on a Spitfire or Mustang but creaming my jocks about spy planes and stupendous wastes of money designed to kill people kinda irks me a little. Still an awesome ep tho I do love the technical details and the gang are amazing as always lol.

Layla Saturn

Diapers... the well crap PPE of U2 pilots and astronauts for over 60(?) years

Porpoise Power

I presume that's because the Soviet Union is dead and China is just copying what the Amercians are doing. Where else is one going to fawn over military hardware?

Subspace Jet Witch

I'm actually here for stupidly long episodes in multiple parts as long as y'all are good with making them. If the content is there, go for it !

Adam Stadnick

They even got gimmie hats made. I wish I still had mine.

James Phipps

I spent a lot of Divorced Dad summers in Alamogordo listening to The Dead Milkmen’s masterpiece Bucky Fellini and telling strangers my Dad worked for JAFO Construction after telling a very nice German guy my Dad made airplanes invisible for a living. 🤷‍♂️

James Phipps

@1:38:52 It was just Cousin Larry calling for the third time today.

Melissa Humbert

The microwave segment reminded me of the pandemic fad of making homemade rigs for electric woodburning. People were using the magnetrons to create a circuit that made Lichtenberg figures on the wood. A couple of people were electrocuted because they didn't take electricity seriously.

Melissa Humbert

The aircraft top right at 44:22 may be a NASA WB-57F, Canberra variant? Or another Canberra variant.

Justin Kase

I'm not American. And you're a piece of shit.

vidaks

have you considered unaliving yourself so there will be one less Amerikkkan?

Quinn Morlock

i cant see part 2 either. is it in justins house?

Richard Fitzgerald

Unrelated post script: to anyone who reads this: donate to Lutheran Settlement House, or get off your ass and get organized, or both.

vidaks

I just about enjoyed this episode, if only it wasn't chock full of gushing over Ameri-nazi death machines. Real "made in the empire" content.

vidaks

If we keep reminding Devon how good they looked in the live shows from Kill James Bond/Johnny English, can we get Part 2 a day quicker?

Joseph Petersen

Joe Kassabian would like to know your location.

Navy Davey

The SR71 speed check story Nova mentions is by Major Brian Shul, author of Sled Driver. The short version is that Shul's SR71 with two-man crew was flying over California when they heard a Cessna call in to central control for a speed check - 90 knots. Then a Beechcraft called in - 120 knots. THEN an F-18 Blue Hornet called in - 620 knits, trump card pulled. Long delay. Then Shul's radio man thumbs the mic and asks for a speed check - "Aspen 20, I see you at one thousand eight hundred forty-two knots across the ground." Sadly, probably not a true story, according to other SR71 pilots.

Brendan McAleer

you have a good point

N S

I think Ryan Nagata would probably be the person to talk to about those boots. I don't know if he makes them but if someone does he would know.

Damien Tonkin

hindenburg

Jacob Burton-Edwards

I'm pretty sure you could get something very close to those white boots with something like a white Doc/Solovair (maybe with a steel toe cap) and then you can get these things that lace into the lace holes on wither side that have a zip than you can zip them up with (can't for the life of me remember what they are called)

Bella

What is the link to the nonprofit? I can't open the video description and I don't believe the URL was mentioned

Off-label Botanist

"difficult to do a genocide directly, yourself, with a surface to air missile" - can we confirm this serb officer wasn't in Rwanda on the evening of 06 April 1994?

Luke Walker

This is the horniest episode.

N S

*them btw

Alex Korman

As formerly one of those highly cleared cogs in the intelligence machine, all knowing that stuff is bug you that you can't tell people cool shit or use classified knowledge to win an argument on the internet, which is exactly why War Thunder forums are a bigger counterintelligence threat than North Korea or Israel

Pablo Madoka

The Death of Madden would be an incredible movie

Noblesse Oblahaj

I fucking love you dorks.

Patrick

When I see someone platforming someone associated with a group I am upset with, before I complain, I actually look at the content to see whether it supports the views and actions I take issue with, or if it is counter to them. In this case, it was my impression the guest stayed pretty consistently neutral towards their employer, except for a few moments of opposition. I therefore don't have a complaint about them being platformed.

Some Ed

Most of the time people say doing something is too dangerous so nobody ever does it, somebody has done it. This is how we know it's too dangerous.

Some Ed

It's a lovely musical instrument and its name is hilarious to many English speakers. Most of the people I have encountered in the wild who know of it have referenced it more for the joy of saying the word flugelhorn than for any appreciation of the instrument itself. That's nothing to do with the instrument and much more to do with the fact that I'm not a musician and do not hang out with musicians for the most part. At least, I think. Reflecting a bit more on the musicians I have hung out with, maybe it's just appreciation for the instrument's wonderful name is greater than the wonderful instrument.

Some Ed

Also I REALLY want to hear November's Poland article 11 rant XD Poland clinging on to it's independence like: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-kmFQmzBwtU

David MacDonald

My personal opinion is that the SR-71 is the most beautiful aircraft ever built.

James Mudrock

I want a survivability rutabaga

GabrielClyde

Honestly, most surprising part of this episode was learning that Devon gets holidays. They must be allowing him out of the basement with a timed bomb collar on? a la Saw films?

David MacDonald

Wikipedia made sure I knew that the A-12 experimental supersonic plane is codenamed "Oxcart". So, just remember. That's the name Elon and Grimes gave their kid. Oxcart.

Great Joe

No, you're thinking of Carp.

THE PHOTO OF JUSTIN'S HOUSE BIT HELP

Pat Biss

Surprisingly, no! Quite a few of those date to WW1 or interwar before Radar was developed. Some of those actually saw use, though not really during WW2.

Fulmir

One time when I was living in California I went for a walk looked up and thought to myself, "Wow, that sailplane is surprisingly loud." and then I realized it was a U-2.

Wonder if the SR-71 photo was shot on some variation of Kodak Aerocolor - the US military used special-order Kodak films for aerial photography & reconnaissance (among other things) for decades. Kodak still make a version of Aerocolor but I doubt it sees any military use now.

I’ve seen 2 in person, the one at the Smithsonian and the one at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo, they’re incredible aircraft. The XB-70 at the Air Force Museum is next on my list.

Before I start, I gotta say this thumbnail is doing some work.

Completely correct about the twin wing and tail boom being a Rutan design. That's the SMUT (real name. Special-Mission Utility Transport) Scaled Composites 133 ATTT short takeoff demonstrator he made for DARPA in the late 80s There's also a Fairchild T-46 Eaglet which Rutan helped design, specifically this one is 84-0492 Lockheed C-140A JetStar 59-5962 is the green one in the top left Lockheed C-130E Hercules 61-2358 The swing-wing is either General Dynamics F-111A Aardvark 63-9766 or General Dynamics NF-111A Aardvark 63-9778 Rockwell B-1B Lancer 84-0049 Boeing NC-135A Stratolifter 60-0377 and Boeing C-135C Stratolifter 61-2669 "Speckled Trout" Douglas C-53D Skytrooper 41-20093 I believe the trapezoidal wing one is Martin RB-57B Canberra 52-1576 Lockheed NC-141A Starlifter 61-2779 Based on this helpful list https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_Force_Flight_Test_Museum

"relocatable antenna" I would assume have footings in multiple locations and you only move the antenna portion?

Krushchev is buried in the Novodevichye cemetery in Moscow. His monument has a great sculpture of his head with his trademark grin on it.

Michael Lehan

There's a link under the three vertical dots on their patreon page "get audio RSS"

Amy Cook

There is one, I've got it! I don't remember how tho

Amy Cook

Tbf this has happened with previous guests too, who were supposed to be anonymous, but in this case the guest went by her full name and specified her career so hopefully it's ok 🙀 Great episode though, can't wait for part two

Lauri Lahtinen

The area 51 lawsuits were actually from the f117 development when they were just disposing of radar absorbent paints in burn pits on site. I can only recommend Trevor Paglens book "Blank spots on the map" (as well as pretty much all his other work) for more.

Mathakk .

What is the good word on the audio RSS

Andrew

Does this make Alea the first guest to dox one of the hosts?

Just the Worst

the first time I am actually watching the slides. before now it was an audio only experience because I am a renegade.

Matt Hope

Check out the Wikipedia page on Yehudi Lights for a fun little side tangent on trying to do some visual spectrum stealth.

vercingix

1:11:14 we can see the guest talking, pretty sure that's not intentional.

Mod Zero

As a listener, I too am getting older and appreciate the splitting of the episodes. Thank you for going to the extra effort! And commiserations for the technical difficulties.

Serkles

Not even a screenshot of the opening scene in Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World to be seen? I am surprised

spunups

That's the best case scenario. But sadly, I doubt that it's satire.

Lenora Holder

The saddest part about the homeless bit is that the answer to questions like this one, especially in the US, is both. We are able to fund necessary social spending, and "bespoke" military programs. But daddy Bezos needs another rocket dickship and a supeyacht. Therefore, fuck taxes and funding national priorities I guess. Governance is for pussies anyway. . .

Overlord17

There was one brief period in the Carter administration when a trans person could comment on the war machine. Was a fertile period.

Louis Wilkins

I also love presuming things based on no information at all

Science

16:40 and 1:11:15 we see how the sauce is made (and your guest's face). Share those pasta recipes Rozzerino.

WHY DOESNT the rss for audio only work

Sam Cortese

Alea Kootz! Found the name. I'll surely donate to her non-profit

Javier Navarro Muñoz

I want to quote the guest on the rocks thing, but I didn't quite catch her name (Aia Kutz?), can someone help? Amma drop the quote on a desgin project I'm doing cos it literally rocks Thanks!

Javier Navarro Muñoz

i've had the opportunity to see AND TOUCH a working SR-71 in person, parked right alongside the Spruce Goose and accompanied by its pilot. It's hard to articulate how impressive these planes are in person, how massive they are, and how visually stunning. i know they have their problems, but I'm fully in love with them.

Professional Void Screamer

this comment is satire right?

Rob B

You won't get rabies from bats in Australia...you'll just get lyssavirus...or hendra virua

A_Aphelion

How are you platforming part of the american war machine during a genocide. idgaf if she's trans or you think this is cool, you are morally fucking bankrupt for this.

Soph

My assumption for most of those Aircraft Hearing Apparatuses is that they were largely BS cover-stories to try and keep RADAR a secret a little longer.

Great job peeling that onion at 16:40 Is it doxxing if it's just a visual?

Nova, at 18:28 I'm not sure if you're poking fun at the German language but a flugelhorn is actually a musical instrument that exists. It is commonly used by trumpet players as a doubling instrument, meaning that it's a secondary instrument used by trumpet players to achieve a specific, much mellower and warmer sound than a trumpet can produce. This is possible because the bore of the instrument is conical, meaning that the width of the tubes gradually increases throughout the length of the instrument, as opposed to the cylindrical bore of a trumpet, which is constant until the bell stem. A flugelhorn bell also widens much quicker and has a much wider throat than that of a trumpet.

Sean Hakala

Someone’s face appears at 16:41 if that’s not supposed to happen

Oh gods, this is a topic where either I am going to get really annoyed about some incredibly minor factual error, or everyone else is going to get very upset about some very minor factually correct thing. Actually wait, maybe it's the other way around.
