At Flite Fest, Ryan Harrell had this multimeter in his bag, and my jaw hit the floor when I saw it. If it lacked its killer feature, it would still be a great portable multimeter: thin, small, and the probes wind neatly around the housing and clip out of the way. But the killer feature is that IT HAS A DC-CAPABLE CLAMP METER built in.
In case you don't understand how great a clamp meter is, it lets you measure current without having to splice into the wire in question. It's hands-down the easiest way to measure current, especially in the field where taking apart the wiring may not be easy or safe. But clamp meters are usually bigger than this. And that's great for some applications, but for mini quads, a tiny meter like this is just right.
The clamp-meter is this product's killer feature, literally. It was so expensive to manufacture that Sperry killed the product entirely. But Ryan turned me on to a store that has some of the last stock in existence, and they're on fire-sale price at only $40.
Now that I've gotten mine, I can turn you on to it. I'm going to make a video about this in the next few days, and I anticipate they'll sell out. So if you want one, here's the purchase link:
