Final Fantasy X-2 - Real Emotion / 1000 Words

Hmm, don't hear this too often. Usually the VGM world is grow more fond with age. Learn something new everyday. I guess it did it's job then though.

Jnn

For a long time, I really loved 1000 words. And it still hits when in the cutscene. I guess the cutscene and the story background was the whole reason I loved this song. Now with years past me playing the game for the last time, it is kind of... just there. Sounds nice, yeah, and the singer is great. But I kind of lost part of the connection.

Real Emotion: —"I am SO cofused." You and millions of FFX fans when they saw the intro to FFX-2, brother XD Also, funny you mentioned the guitar solo reminded you of Full Speed Ahead, because that song was actually also from a "2": XIII-2, as opposed to XIII proper. Yes, Real Emotion has an English version. Unlike with Kingdom Hearts, the English versions of the songs have a different singer, credited as Jade from Sweetbox (I don't know anything else about her, sorry). I didn't even know these were sung by Koda Kumi in the original. Makes sense, though, her J-pop star was shining brightly at the time. 1000 Words: Kinda weird hearing the cutscene version with the sound effects and not seeing the cutscene, lol. But let me just say it was a good move for you to cover the thing. This was not the time and place for you to see that cutscene, trust me. You echoed my exact thoughts after the orchestra version: that woman sang her heart out. I was literally going to write that after listening. Overall: Don't worry about the "HD remaster" thing, these sound the same in the original. Speaking of the HD remaster, FFX and X-2 are actually bundled together in that release, so assuming you're gonna play that version, you will own X-2 as well. Finally, the popularity thing. Having played both, my opinion is that in a vacuum, Final Fantasy X-2 is a great game. But it doesn't live in a vacuum, and that hurts its public perception. It's one of those cases where the whole vibe shifts dramatically from the first game, so much so that it puts off many people who had played FFX. In other words, I think the "not what I expected" factor is strong with X-2. Was it needed? Honestly, no. FFX is perfectly self-contained, I'm confident you won't feel like you need a sequel after finishing it. But like I said, X-2 is not a bad game, you just need to brace for impact and be ready for the vibe shift. Take care!
