Alright Jesse, ill be nerding out a little bit. This is Uematsu work, I confirm. As for the Artwork, it was drawn by Yoshitaka Amano. This dude has draw every main art of every FF through 1 to 16 so far, and even the majority of spin offs. Also, mind you, he drew some chara designs which usually serves as a base for the future characters. Check Vivi, Queena, from ff9 art by amano, you will be surprised lol. Besides, as some have mentions the first one is NES the other is the PS1 version. Also, i would like to add that many old FF tracks from NES/SNES have been remastered by Takeharu Ishimoto (known for his work on KH, dissidia, FF7 crisis core/last order/before crisis, FF type 0) in the first and second dissidia FF games. And those are realllllllly good! Hope you will check them out some time. There's actually the dissidia version of "dungeon/marsh cave" I bet you will like it! If FF9 remake becomes a real thing, and FF8 r too, I really hope this man will get involved with the OST. Because he's really talented and underrated to my mind.

The Underwater Temple was the PS1 version which was released as an enhanced version of the original FF1 (And FF2) with updated graphics, combat, and music. I believe the Pixel Remaster version is also different to the original and this PS1 version.

Older Final Fantasy games and their native consoles are easy to remember, because they go in threes: FF 1, 2, 3: NES FF 4, 5, 6: SNES FF 7, 8, 9: PS1 FF 10, 11, 12: PS2 Only then it started to take too long between releases: FF 13, 14: PS3 FF 15: PS4 FF 16: PS5

Huh. Now that you mention it, The Dungeon does kinda remind me of the Pokémon Gen 1 battle themes, with the usage of very fast scales to induce the sense of urgency and stress.

This was so cool to listen to. For the second track, the original looks like it's called "Ocean Shrine" and sounds very much like the Marsh Cave. I'm thinking Underwater Temple is from the Pixel remaster. Love to know for sure but it's such a cool tune!

Today I learned :O

8-bit NES/Famicom games are always in mono. Any time you hear stereo separation in one, it's the uploader messing with it in a way that wasn't the sound of the original game.
