Well, while everyone is locked down and isolating, and I'm still waiting on some assets for Halcyon, I thought I might be able to get Anguna Zero knocked out quickly.
There's still some more work to do, but I just wanted to show the comparison of the world maps between the Atari and the NES version. Because of the huge difference in how the systems' displays work, room layouts were one of the things that I changed completely between versions (although the overall flow of the world is the same). A few things worth noting:
- the NES version has more color than this, but the tool that I'm using for laying out maps doesn't have the palette information attached.
- You'll note the distinct difference in shape between the worlds. The Atari version is based on actual screenshots, where the NES version is based on the tile editor. Because of the pixel shapes, etc, it makes the NES version look a lot more square. But if you compare, the overall layout is still the same!
I'm getting pretty close to finished with the game, and I'll be looking for some people to do some real testing at some point soon (trying to break things, not just playing through the game for fun). If you or someone you know would be a good tester, holler!
