ok so i know i'm like a couple of years late on this but if someone ever options priory of the orange tree to be a miniseries or a movie, i would be so delighted if emily was involved in that production (if she wanted to be) oh my god. i just think emily's genius mind would help bring that gorgeous book to an audiovisual medium in as true a form as physically possible and we would all be so much better off for it. while i'm here, thank y'all so much for being such an incredible part of my day every day 💕 y'all have brought so so so much joy to my life and i'm really grateful for this awesome podcast!!!

I felt like mortal engines was such a good world, but was executed poorly. I just found it so boring. But I felt like the world had a lot of promise. Maybe the book is better.

Emily's fringe is my hair goals and now I find out she cuts them herself 😍 And a tiny straightener, that's perfect! I just brush mine into the correct position

Ayyyy, Universal Studios props person here. Waterworld is one of our highest rated attractions at the park, and honestly it rips pretty hard! The stunt show is a lot of fun and I’ve really enjoyed getting to work on its refurbishment over the years. If the Band of Boobs ever wanna go (when it’s safe to do so, of course) hit me up and I can get you in! 🔥🚤🔥

Listening to Em talk about her plants while I take care of mine; took me a good year of plant homicide before results started being what I wanted. You got this Em, patience is the most important part of growing plant friends.

Fun witch fact: placing hair in a coffin is fully a curse that appears in American folklore. Hair (or other bodily concerns) are placed in coffins and then buried under dirt roads that are commonly tread upon, causing one of two effects. 1) each time a horse or person rides over it causes that owner of the hair pain/discomfort/etc. 2) prevents the person from actually traveling down those roads. This is found in “the silver bullet” by Hubert Davis.

I’m actually looking forward to the new D&D movie now that I know the writers/directors are comedy guys. It also makes a bit more sense with the cast. If Hugh Grant’s villain is anything like his role from The Gentlemen, I’ll be happy.

YES Priory of the Orange Tree TV show! I’m so excited that Samantha Shannon just finished the prequel book so hopefully it’ll be coming out some time next year. And she’s talked about a possible Sabran and Ead spin off which is everything I could ever want.

5 years ago I was working at a subway in a really busy truck stop when suddenly a crowd of older men came in and started ordering sandwiches.
The fourth man in starts ordering a plain meatball sub on Italian herbs and cheese. I look up, and it's Kevin fucking Costner. My whole subway team (all chicks) try to play it super cool... it's kind of working, one girl asked for a picture.
I move to the cash register, take a 10 from Kevin fucking Costner and he tells me to put the change in the tip jar.
I get some courage and say, "I... loved Waterworld." That all.
He smiles, says thank you and goes and sits in the lobby.
A truly wonderful experience.

Just shorter hair at the front of your face. Usually refers to "straight bangs" which is the straight-ish cut across the face. Or "side bangs" which are kind of like long straight bangs pushed to one side. "baby bangs" like fia has are just really short straight bangs. And sometimes people refer to the hair that goes down both side of the face as bangs, but idk what that kind is called.

As someone not from the states. Can someone tell me what the hell "bangs" are? I hear people say it on all different types of media but I swear it's always a different thing.
Is it a straight fringe? Is it a parting of some kind? Is it when hair goes down either side of your face like an anime character?
