I loved that conversation right at the intro! I think it’s amazing how much of Emily is in Moonshine (and Vice Versa) and Murph having bad luck because he walks around annoyed at the world….basically sums up being from NJ as a personality.

Regarding Paralysis: Yes cleansing touch would free him from paralysis. No he could not have used it on him self since paralysis prevented him from taking actions. If Hardwon had been paralyzed, Bev could have removed it from Hardwon with Bev's action.

So, Beverly would not have been able to use Cleansing Touch on himself as he didn't have an action to do it due to being paralyzed, and Cleansing Touch wouldn't of worked on it anyways. Paralyzing Touch is not a spell, but instead a special ability of a Lich. If a DM wants to rule that it is affected by it then they can, I likely would myself, but per RAW it does not qualify. Cleansing Touch would work on something like Hold Monster/Person that paralyzes them as it is an ongoing spell effect, though still the Paladin would not be able to cleanse themselves as they are being controlled. Basically, an easy way to think of it is any spell that requires the caster to maintain concentration can be canceled by Cleansing Touch as long as it is affecting a creature specifically. So this would not stop something like Entangle as it is affecting an area and not a specific target. So spells like Hex, Hunter's Mark, Hold/Dominate/Charm X, Geas, any of the Smite's with lasting effects, etc. would be affected by Cleansing Touch. As well, this doesn't cover all spells that can be affected by Cleansing Touch, just the definite ones. Spells like Contagion are examples of non-concentration spells that can be affected by it.

Pretty sure the only way to get rid of paralysis is to either use a Remedy or Gold Needle, or have someone cast Esuna.

So I dont think bev would have been able to use cleansing touch to escape the paralysis because of the language of both that ability and the paralysing touchs. Cleansing touch says it can be used to end a spell on yourself and paralysing touch treats the paralysis as an effect not as the spell itself. Based off of the handbook I dont think cleansing touch can be used to end spell effects only spells themselves like charm person or what have you. Though it doesnt seem to require bev to touch himself to use the ability which is neat

I’m not sure, but I’d guess that the slimy many eyed monster was a beholder of some sort (might be buffed or home brewed stats for the great mother, deity of beholders) and the gargoyle monster might be a pit fiend. I know the three that didn’t go were Tiamat, a demogorgon, and yeenoghu.

It requires an action to use Cleansing Touch which he can’t do because he doesn’t have an action to spend. That being said I’m a lenient DM and would allow it with a good religion check or something.
