2018-09-13 17:57:11 +0000 UTCIf she can maintain her concentration, then they are definitely falling for the maximum 20d6 damage (or more if the DM wants it to be more), and average damage for 20d6 is 70 (3.5x20). Remember that if you are reduced to 0 HP while polymorphed, all excess damage is transferred to your natural form when you change back. Dolphins have a 11 HP per Volo's Guide and Nightmares have 68 HP, and so it would still have 9 HP left over after the fall with average damage. So, unless Murph rolls at least 9 points over the average damage, then that Nightmare could totally survive that fall.

2018-09-13 15:30:59 +0000 UTCDid some rough calculations. Assuming she failed her Con save: It was about 1.5 rounds from Moonshine casting polymorph til when she took damage. A quick google search tells me that skydiving speed is ~120mph or 53.6 meters per second. With rounds being around 6 seconds long, ~9 seconds passed total. So the dude only fell ~500 meters til the hell horse changed back.
