84. Alison Botha - The Inspiring Story

Comments

I second this. Alison is such an amazing and inspiring soul! Thank you for sharing her tragic but beautiful story.

I am proud to say I am a South African, an Afrikaans woman. When this story got out way back when and when they were going to release them and not even let her know, it was scary. These are Afrikaans guys and they should’ve been locked away with the key chucked like they chucked her. The 40min. the ambulance took, gives an idea of how these events are not taken seriously. Probably they wanted to check medical aid membership and argue cost which of course the rescuer couldn’t have know the details of. That he had a cellphone is truly grace because it was only doctors and the rich who had them at that time. Port Elizabeth is very rural and has a country vibe, which is perhaps why she didn’t jump from the car driving through the town, which is really small. It is also culture, Afrikaans girls that time were brought up to be less forward and these two took advantage thereof. Rape wasn’t talked about, especially not amongst Afrikaners. There have been a number of real wackos from my home country and when they commit these atrocities, it is usually beyond criminally insane. I do believe it was her Faith that literally carried her in every way through this. Amazing Afrikaans Lady, usually I hide where I’m from but Alison, reminds me who we are, what we are and one could here the tears towards the end of the podcast. I even got chills. This was, she is, truly a miracle. Pure steel will, a true and worthy survivor.#humbled&honored

My sushi arrived right around the 15 minute mark and I have to say eating during this was impossible. BRB to finish 😩

i almost couldn't listen when you talked about the extent of her injuries and what she had to do just to survive. i struggle to understand how she LIVED it and still made it through. that is an incredible amount of strength

this is my favourite episode yet, it was a difficult and moving one but this story has changed my day to day life and had made me a better person, thank you for sharing it, love you guys

Those monsters!! I’m so glad Allison made it through and this choked me up too 🥺🥺

The fact that the monster would send a letter wanting money for what he did should be evidence enough why he should NEVER get out

The tears!!!! I can't imagine what she went through but what she did with it is so inspiring! So happy that she has 2 boys now and living life.

I think we call it paddling in the Netherlands (Pickleball)

This was an amazing story. I am so shocked that after everything was put against Alison she was so strong to live. Her words are so inspiring and it puts a lot of things into perspective. She really is a woman to look up to that hope really never dies as long as we try our best to live the best life we can and not let anyone as evil tear us down. I am forever going to remember Alison and I’m so grateful that you guys decided to share this story because you never really know who needs this message of life right now. Love you guys
