RV Menu Prototype : Limited sharing song Vol.15

I originally started composing this piece for the menu screen, which is different from the direction of the final version, which mimics the atmosphere of a Japanese FM radio station.

I wanted to include a little bit of the early atmosphere of the Ridge Racer series, because Ridge Racer V has a rather hard and stoic sound, and I thought it needed a bit of a brighter atmosphere. As you can hear, I included some high-tension accented sounds and guitar samples, like the culture of Juliana, a Japanese hyper-techno venue that closed in 1994.

In the latter half of the track, we hear a chorus-effect synth chord, which is the Roland Juno-106 released in 1984.

When Ridge Racer V was developed in the late 90s, there was an unprecedented techno boom, and using vintage synthesizers from the 70s and 80s was very popular.

I first got a Korg MS-20 released in 1978, and then I wanted a vintage synthesizer that could produce chords, so I chose the Juno-106, which had the sound I liked best. I thought the smooth transition of the sound when these chords change was very nice and I like it very much.

I also decided not to use a traditional rhythm machine for the rhythm, but to create my own innovative rhythm, so I sent the built-in rhythm patterns to KORG's ELECTRIBE-R rhythm machine, released in 1999, in Logic without using the sound source part of the rhythm machine, and after a little editing, I used the Ensoniq ASR-X.

The reason why we used vintage synths and combined them with post-hypertechno equipment to create a "different" sound is because PlayStation 2, the launch title of Ridge Racer V, is a next-generation console and the beginning of the 2000s, so we felt that we had to not only inherit past culture, but also evolve to the next generation. The main reason for this is that the PlayStation 2, the launch title of Ridge Racer V, is a next-generation console and the beginning of the 2000s.
