I just realized...!
The 25th anniversary of Ace Combat 2 was also the 25th anniversary of Kohta Takahashi's commercial composing debut.
Since joining Namco, I have played guitar in Ridge Racer Revolution and Rage Racer, and had a little experience as an apprentice arranger in World Stadium EX, but Ace Combat 2 was the first game in which his compositions were incorporated into a game.
This year, on the 25th anniversary of the game, Ace Combat collaborated with Top Gun.
When I was working on Ace Combat 2, I tried to keep Top Gun's image out of my mind as much as possible.
So when I learned of the collaboration, I realized yesterday that when Top Gun was released in 1986, Tom Cruise, the lead actor, was 24 years old. When Ace Combat 2 was released in 1997, Kota Takahashi was 25 years old. At the time of development, he was 24 years old.
Taking advantage of the fact that rookies were not encouraged to work overtime in the beginning, I really enjoyed playing outside of work a lot.
My senior Nontan supported me in all my work problems as a rookie, so I was able to really relax and work on my compositions.
The first song I presented to the team was Rising High. I had everyone listen to the song with all instruments played on a Roland SC-88 Pro.

...Oops, there is no end to what I can remember.
That's enough for today.
Today is the day I realized again that Kohta Takahashi's commercial composing debut was Ace Combat 2.
