Cursed Class: Lesser Demon (Alpha 0.1)

If a creature is subjected to a substantial degree of demonic corruption or willingly makes a pact with a powerful demon, that creature's capabilities can become fundamentally altered, becoming akin to that of a demon.

The abilities of a demon can be rather destructive and sought after by the power hungry, growing in their potency the more they are used. However, the more a creature wields these powers (or the more a creature is corrupted, forcing levels of this class upon them), the creature becomes increasingly corrupt as both its body and mind become more akin to that of a demon. By the time creature fully embraces or succumbs to this power, there is often little left of the original individual as they transform into a full-fledged demon.

If a character's class levels are replaced with Lesser Demon, their stats receive the following augmentations:

HP: +0

Will:  +0

MP: +10

Strength: +1

Mind: +1

Defense: +1

Resolve: -2

Finesse: +1

Speed: +1

Awareness: +1

Diplomacy: +1

Knowledge: +1

Physicality: +1

Subtlety: +1

When a character's class levels are replaced with Lesser Demon class levels, they automatically gain the following abilities.

Profane Blessing: Whenever you'd deal damage to one or more creatures with a spell or attack, you can cause yourself to gain one, two, or three points of corruption. For each point of corruption gained this way, increase the spell or attack's damage by 1d6 dark damage.

Demonic Body: Your body takes on slight demonic traits. These traits can come in the form of tattoo-like markings, small horns, and a demonic tail. You add +3 to diplomacy rolls made to intimidate others. Whenever you'd make roll using one of your utility stats, you can cause yourself to gain one point of corruption. If you do, add 1d6 to your roll. Lastly, you count as a Demon rather than a humanoid.

Fiendish Compulsion: The demonic corruption within you alters the manner in which you act, and you find yourself compelled to follow the orders of demons stronger than you. Demons with higher Strength and/or Mind than you automatically succeed Diplomacy rolls to persuade you and subtlety rolls made to lie to you.

Additionally, whenever you gain your 25th point of corruption from any source since previously triggering this ability, you gain one personality trait from the corrupt personality trait chart. When triggering this ability, you can choose to instead have this trait replace one of your non-corrupt personality traits. If you do, gain one level in this class.

Lastly, upon gaining your 15th level in this class or upon gaining 200 points of corruption (whichever happens first), you are completely overtaken by corruption, your body and mind being replaced by those of a GM's choice. (This causes your character to become a monster under the GM's control)

If a character with class levels in Lesser Demon undergoes a ritual of Purification, they lose one level of this class and lose ten points of Corruption. However, they may only be affected by a Ritual of Purification in this manner once every seven days. Furthermore, if a character with class levels in Lesser Demon performs an action that is notably pure and selfless, a GM may cause this action to remove one class level of Lesser Demon from the character, removing ten points of corruption as well.

For each additional class level after one that is replaced with Lesser Demon class levels, gain one of the following abilities. Based on the circumstance, a GM may have the source of the Lesser Demon class levels dictate which abilities are taken rather than the player.

Lesser Demon Caster: (You may choose this ability any number of times) You learn one spell from the Lesser Demon spell list. When you gain this ability. you may choose to gain ten points of corruption. If you do, you may instead learn a spell from any class's spell list.

Greater Demonic Body: (You may choose this ability up to five times) You grow wings akin to that of a demon, providing you the ability of flight and +2 movement while flying. Additionally, your demonic features become more prominent and you may gain new demonic features as well. For each time you've taken this ability, you may gain additional points of corruption when activating Demonic Body, adding an additional 1d6 for each point gained this way.

Boon Of Corrupt Growth: Whenever you gain a level up, you may choose to gain 20 points of corruption and reduce your resolve by -2. If you do, you immediately level up again. Level ups triggered by this ability cannot trigger this ability. Additionally, if you activated this ability, neither the inciting level up nor the additional level gained from it may be used to increase your Resolve.

Secrets Of The Corrupt Plane: As a one-handed action, you can cause yourself to gain two points of corruption. If you do, choose a Demon you are personally familiar with (such as the source of your first level in this class). Regardless of that demon's currently location or which Realm it is currently within, you form a brief telepathic link with that Demon. You may ask it one question. That Demon offers a response no longer than one sentence. While the demon is under no obligation to help you, many demons will try to offer helpful advice that may raise additional questions as to encourage a lesser demon to gain more corruption through repeated use of this ability.

One With Darkness: You can see through darkness as if it were light, you gain +2 defense while in the darkness, and you are resistant to Dark damage, and damage dealt by demonic sources. However, you are vulnerable to Light damage and damage dealt by angelic sources.

Invoke Demonic Ally: (Five or more levels only) As a two-action you may spend any amount of MP (minimum of 10) and gain ten points of corruption. You summon a Demon determined by the amount of MP spent to activate this ability. While the demon summoned this way acts of its own volition, it is willing to help you if you agree to a deal of its choosing, most often one that will cause you to become more corrupt. If you are personally familiar with a specific demon and know its name, you can summon it by speaking its full name aloud and spending 25 MP.

Master of the Forbidden: (Five or more levels only. You may choose this ability any number of times) You learn one Forbidden Art chosen by the GM. You gain 15 points of corruption.

Hellish Burst: (7 or more levels only) Once per day, you can channel your corruption into a devastating attack. When you hit a creature with a melee attack, you can increase the attack's damage by an amount of dark damage equal to the number of points of corruption you currently have. You then gain 10 points of corruption.

Curse Marks: (10 or more levels only) As a two-handed action, you can spend 20 MP to target an adjacent creature, attempting to fill it with corrupting energy, manifesting itself in tattoo-like marks on the creature's body. That creature must roll 1d8, adding their resolve. If the total is less than your Mind, you may choose to either afflict that creature with one Demonic curse chosen by the GM or cause that creature to gain one level of Lesser Demon. You may have that creature automatically fail this roll by causing yourself to gain 5 points of corruption.
