La prima serie dello Zip debutta nel 1992, i principali componenti erano prodotti a Pontedera e l’assemblaggio finale avveniva negli stabilimenti spagnoli Piaggio Moto Vespa SA per essere distribuito in tutta Europa; era originariamente raffreddata ad aria e dotata di forcella telescopica e due freni a tamburo.

Nel 1993 fu introdotto lo Zip Fast Rider dotato di freno a disco anteriore. Nel 1996 la gamma fu ampliata con l'introduzione dello Zip SP mentre lo Zip Fast Rider fu sottoposto ad un significativo restyling, presentando un frontale di disegno totalmente differente rispetto alla precedente versione. Nel 1999 viene introdotto lo Zip Disk dotato di marmitta catalitica e più simile al capostipite nelle soluzioni estetiche.

Dal 1995 al 1999 è stato commercializzato da Gilera sotto il nome Easy Moving.

Lo Zip SP è uno scooter molto apprezzato dagli amatori, soprattutto per le competizioni. Infatti, leggero, potente con passo corto, è uno dei modelli più maneggevoli ed efficienti.

The first series of the Zip debuted in 1992, the main components were produced in Pontedera and the final assembly took place in the Spanish plants Piaggio Moto Vespa SA to be distributed throughout Europe; was originally air cooled and equipped with telescopic fork and two drum brakes.

In 1993, the Zip Fast Rider was introduced with a front disc brake. In 1996 the range was extended with the introduction of the Zip SP while the Zip Fast Rider underwent a significant restyling, presenting a totally different design front compared to the previous version. In 1999 was introduced the Zip Disk equipped with catalytic converter and more similar to the parent in aesthetic solutions.

From 1995 to 1999 it was marketed by Gilera under the name Easy Moving.

The Zip SP is a scooter much appreciated by amateurs, especially for competitions. In fact, lightweight, powerful with short wheelbase, it is one of the most maneuverable and efficient models.
