Shoutout: Why I think you should play Heavy Five
Added 2020-05-31 07:14:15 +0000 UTCHi there, patrons!
This is one of those exceedingly rare shoutout posts I seldom make. If you have been following me for a while, you know that this practically never happens. If I promote another dev's game, it's because I really like it, and it's never part of a behind-the-scenes business arrangement.
Today's game is something special. It's a game called Heavy Five by Nottravisgames, and I first played it back in September or October of last year. It has gone through massive upgrades since then. I originally wanted to tell all of you about it at that time, but the dev wished to improve her game first to make as good of a first impression as possible. As of yesterday, she achieved that goal, so here we are.
Heavy Five is a sci-fi story with branching paths and a compelling narrative with well-developed characters. According to the dev, there are no less than 40 different paths through the latest update, which means there is a ton of replayability and meaningful player choice involved. Most importantly, the writing is done by someone who clearly cares about it and doesn't just see it as an obstacle in creating more porn. It's rare to find devs with a passion for writing in this industry, but Nottravisgames definitely qualifies. She has the same approach to the characters in her story that I have with the characters in Long Live the Princess. If you like what I'm doing, odds are you're going to enjoy Heavy Five.
Nottravisgames has been working her ass off getting the game to the stage it is now, but she doesn't yet have the recognition she deserves. I hope to at least move the needle a little with this post. If you have any interest in science fiction whatsoever, please give her game a play to see if you enjoy it. If you do, please consider supporting Nottravisgames on Patreon. I have done so ever since I discovered Heavy Five, and I intend to continue.
That's it for today. I'll be back with a progress report in a few days, but until then, enjoy your Sunday.

2020-06-20 22:45:26 +0000 UTCOh, I understand that fully. I do have high hopes for the progress for Heavy Five. I came into LLtP really late (as in shortly before end game part 1 was released). I can tell she takes great pride in her work, and it will show as time goes on. The waiting is painful lol.

2020-06-05 04:24:41 +0000 UTCThat's the case for all games early in development, though. The first version of LLtP featured the linear tutorial section and Evelyn's small secret. That was it. The next two versions added the small secrets for Primrose and Callie. Nell and Samarra didn't even show up until the fourth update. Things take time, and Nottravisgames, the developer of Heavy Five, takes great care to do it right.
2020-06-04 15:09:11 +0000 UTCI think Heavy 5 has a lot of potential for certain. As it sits right now, you just start getting into it and boom it is over. And while the intermission is understood, it really yanks you out of the immersion.

2020-06-01 05:23:52 +0000 UTCOkay, so I gave it a shot. Darn it, and I was doing so well at not signing up for any Patreon that looked even remotely interesting. This is definitely a cut above the rest, though. I'm glad you brought it to our attention.

2020-05-31 23:43:23 +0000 UTCBeing genuine is one of my top priorities. I care about making a good game first and foremost, and that includes doing what little I can to help others do the same. :)
2020-05-31 14:33:57 +0000 UTCI recently discovered your work by DrPinkCake members and was trying to discover which type of dev you were before becoming a patron. This post just settled it. Thanks for the tip. Just downloaded Heavy Five and by the way it looks I'm going to be a patron there too. Just wanted to say it: you seem genuine developing this game. Hope you can keep up the good work and commitment. An enjoyable Sunday to you, too...
