Progress Report

After finishing a plot-crucial scene last week, I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to follow it up with. I briefly toyed with the thought of doing something else of importance, but quickly discarded that idea. I wanted to make something fun and unimportant, a bit of fan service if you will.
As a result, I ended up working on a new scene for Belle. Yeah, she already has her fair share, but she could use a little more. The problem was, how do I make something new for her? For obvious reasons, I can't just do a regular sex scene involving her (not all the time, anyway), and there's only so much you can do with someone of her size. Thankfully, I did come up with a simple idea in the end. While it is not entirely different from the scenes with her we've seen before, it should still feel fresh because of how it looks and the context in which it happens. I'll leave the details at that for now.
What I'm happy to report is that the animation for this scene is turning out marvelous, just the way it did for the other one you're getting in the next release. In fact, I'd say this new one looks even better. I've never made more lifelike animation before, and it's giving me all kinds of inspiration for other things I could do in the future. Animation in Long Live the Princess will always be somewhat limited because of the scope of the game. Still, there are things I could do with potential new games that could take full advantage of the things I've learned over these past years.
The downside of fancy animations is that they take time and effort to set up, and this one was no exception. Thanks to improvements to Daz Studio since I started working on LLtP, it's much, much better than it used to be. Nevertheless, it is a lot of work just to set up a second or two of convincing movement for a loop. It can literally take hours, or even days for more complex animations. Sometimes it can be worth it, though.
Anyway, that's all I have to say for now. The animation is pretty much done being set up and only needs to be rendered (I say only, but that is a time-consuming process too). The next step is to code and write the scene, as well as fix a few nagging issues with the current state of some other characters before 0.28 is released in 1 1/2 weeks.

2020-02-03 03:38:30 +0000 UTCMaking the girls look natural (despite some of them being, well, supernatural) was always important to me. I feel like most creators out there don't really understand human expression. As with most art, simply learning to observe what people *actually* look like is a skill that takes a lot of effort to master, or at least be reasonably competent at. My own impression is that the average creator doesn't bother but instead goes directly for the expression sliders in Daz Studio and cranks them to max, while also pumping up the glute, breast, and dick size sliders to silly levels for good measure. Also, Belle's invisibility *does* actually play into the new scene in some way. You'll get to see why soon. ;)

I realized somewhere along the line that I don't think about the posing in your CGs; that's a good thing, since in many games it stands out as a problem (or at least a question). Your characters look natural. Standing suggestion for a Belle scene: Have her take full advantage of her invisibility and do something pervy with an unsuspecting girl in the MC's presence. Perhaps while the MC is trying to have a conversation with a woman in a skirt and Belle decides to make things more interesting, or during a sleep scene he catches a girl masturbating and Belle decides to give her a hand. You could play it for laughs as well, maybe MC is admiring an attractive woman walking in front of him when she suddenly turns around and slaps him, and he is confused until he catches Belle fluttering out of her dress.
