Announcement of DOOOOOOOOOOOOM (sortofnotreally)

So Path of Exile announced a new league today, which starts June 19.

At this current point in time and space, I am thinking I'm probably gonna maybe play it. Yes, that was a lot of qualifiers, but it doesn't look like the most fun league mechanic, and I kinda wanna keep writing, but I also kinda feel like I'm in dire need of a break.

2020 has been a shit year for everyone, and I'm personally starting to feel the pressure. Nothing big, my problems are fairly minor, but the bigger issue is im in a place where it feels like there's nothing to celebrate or look forward to. New TW:WH dlc was just there, and I played it, but zero hype or excitement even though its really fun. No new shows to watch, no movies to go to, and now, even playing a new PoE league doesn't feel all that exciting, when it used to be this big hype I'd look forward to for weeks. So atm, I dunno how things will go. I might play. I might not. I'll keep you guys up to date, so when I know, you'll know.

Which probs won't happen till literally a few days before the league drops. This is just a friendly warning, because I have no idea if i'll take a break or how long I'll break for if i do. Essentially, its a warning about a possible break of indeterminate length, making this utterly pointless.

That's all for now, and I wish you all the best in these trying times.

Take your beak, we understand . Too many good authors are lost to burnout, and I think just about everyone prefers a good story a couple weeks later than something thrown together for a deadline.

Yea i skipped synthesis for many of the same reasons I'm leery of harvest, namely an overcomplicated mechanic that may or may not require minmaxing how you use what you find instead of just... killing monsters. I don't want to plan a farm, I want to kill loot pinatas. Gimme my loot pinata please.

I hope this won't be like Synthesis league. I ended up quiting that league really early on.

mm, no. I think 3 chapters a week is the real sweet spot, which gives me enough time to edit and get things up to snuff, but doesn't give me TOO much free time to endlessly edit and hate everything I've written. There's a delicate balance there which needs to be maintained, because if given enough time, I'll just keep editing the same chapter till I'm forced to release it, and nothing of value is really gained.

Have you thought about reducing the schedule temporarily? Like instead of a break for a week or two you only do two chapters a week for a month or two? Might be a nice middle ground
