It had also previously been mentioned in a TNG episode as well.

Remember when you were wondering about the Bajoran-Cardassian peace treaty and were concerned that there wasn't a main villain race for the show? Yeah, about that... This episode did correct one thing in the show: Making Sisko a captain. It started to be a bad look, making the first black lead for a Star Trek show a commander instead of a captain, although there was an in universe reason for this going back all the way to TOS: Captains are in charge of starships, while stations are commanded by, well, commanders. As you saw, the Defiant still has a cloak, but the main deal with the Romulans still remains: they aren't supposed to use it in the Alpha Quadrant.

Oh boy! I'm excited to see your reaction to the season 4 opener! It's gonna be a banger!

Bammer

So excited for next week!

Captain S. Holmes

Fermat's Last Theorem was first proposed in 1637, and was solved the year this episode came out.

Even with your eyes closed, you'll still notice something new about the season 4 credits.

After DS 9 is done, can hardly wait, Jen is getting through DS9 steadily

Captain S. Holmes

I feel silly asking this question again, but is Voyager out of the mix now? I thought we were going in air date order with all the shows, in which case we're well past when Voyager had started. I never hear any mention of it whenever I watch DS9 reactions. I only ask because it's my favorite show of the TNG era (but highly adore TNG and DS9 too!)

I finally saw someone post the “evidence” (tough to say it’s real) thing of Spock’s face in the comet tail. Is there a place to post it in this community?

Dean

I have been waiting for next week for like a year 🤣

So I watched some TOS and TNG as a child (1980’s early 90’s), for us it was more ‘oh Trek is on, lets watch it’, not severe fans but I did remember large portions of 40-60 TNG episodes and the Voyage home. In my early twenties my stepdad watched Enterprise so I watched it with him. Then I found Voyager a couple years later and fell in love, I got the DVDs and watched it several times before reconnecting with TNG also through DVDs, then a few years later DS9, so I had no one telling me how this universe worked, by the time I got back to TNG and then DS9 I might have accepted enough of the Trek universe that most things people wonder watching TOS and TNG the first time never occurred to me. There is a lot about the Trek universe I just agreed to accept when choosing to watch, but crucially, no one told me details, I watched through multiple times before people on line started telling me anything about behind the scenes, or any names of anything in the future, or what episode or person was important or better, or how warp drive works, or anything else. If some of you didn’t have that, I am sorry. Lets give that to Jen as much as we can. (There are things I knew about DS9 before I got there which is bittersweet).

"Always test the Tester first." Think you're on to something, Jen.

Sisko's "Earl Grey hot", is just raktajino. That Klingon coffee is really popular with the DS9 crew.
