If you like this kind of thing, I would really recommend watching The Twilight Zone. I'd suggest not picking a few of them, but actually watching all of them (even the ones people think aren't that good, although you can probably skip most of Season 4, when they made the bad decision to change from 1/2 hour shows to full hour shows. It kind of messed up the formula for the story-lines). Some episodes might get panned that I think you would probably like (For instance, I can see you enjoying the one titled "The Hunt" even though it's not highly thought of in general). While it's generally considered "Sci-Fi" there is a debate about that. Some episodes definitely fit into the category of sci-fi, but Rod Serling (the creator of the show) actually said that it wasn't. He considered it to be "fantasy" instead (many story-lines are more fantasy than sci-fi, so he did have a point). You'll also see a lot of famous actors from before they became famous (For instance, four of the main actors/actresses from the 1960s sitcom Bewitched had starring roles in various episodes, and a fifth was an extra in two episodes). There are some (I won't spoil it as to who they are) that you would definitely know and respond to with "Oh my God! Is that....?"

I always chuckled at the thought that while the boyfriend bragged about becoming famous for dropping a dime on Klaatu, Mrs. Benson was going to relegate him to obscurity when the world saw her exit the spaceship with Klaatu. Bye bye, boyfriend! ;-)

You should check out the 2023 Wes Andersen film "Asteroid City" its kind of a similar story also set in the 1950s

We watched all of these classic sci-fi movies on local television back in the sixties and seventies. Thanks for bringing them back, Jen. Great memories.
