Hilarious, the camp wackiness is off the charts yet they keep straight faces. 😂 "Ker-sploosh" 😂 Great reaction. 🦇

Jason Scade

I forgot how good this was! Growing up the tv show was just as campy and fun and was THE show to watch. We would be outside playing and someone would yell "Batman's On" and the streets would clear lol....This was the first time I noticed Bruce was drinking milk in the wine glass at dinner, too funny lol....All the villains were great dramatic actors but really got into their parts. Didn't appreciate all the one-liners as a kid, but they're so hilarious now..."You feline floozy" lol

Lee R.

Probably better I think more creative on it, no point In doing like the masses I suppose

Struzzylive

Hey, that's how I did Timecop here. 👍

Jason Scade

@Struzz I get that too on the occasional video. Almost always on TV eps, very seldom on films. If it happens during a TNG ep, I just pretend it's a time-dilation phenomenon. Issue a 'Theorize' command to the First Cat.

Jason Scade

Technically, not the "original" Batman to make it to the big screen. In 1949, there was a 15-chapter serial called "Batman and Robin". It was pretty goofy in its own rite. That was a follow-up to 1943's "Batman" serial.

Zapp Rowsdower

Crazy the number of continuities this bat has

Struzzylive

Yea I had to do it several times here, everything else I’ve watched is fine

Struzzylive

I'm so happy I got to see Adam West at a con before he passed away. He was very nice and expressed interest in reprising the role of Bruce Wayne in a live action "Batman Beyond" movie. Now that he's gone, I think Michael Keaton or Clint Eastwood could do a good job, but can you imagine West in the role? That would have been awesome!

Michael Jung

If you like "Campy Batman," I recommend watching "Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders" (2016) -- an animated Batman '66 movie starring the voices of Adam West and Burt Ward! There's also "The LEGO Batman Movie" and "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" animated series (I think you'll love "Mayhem of the Music Meister"

Some people find they need to adjust the playback speed of either my reaction or the movie so it can stay in sync better 👍

Jen M

Such a fun movie. I noticed the frame rate on the new reaction videos is 60p. Very smooth. :)

Jeremy

I really looked forward to and enjoyed this. Really hope you check out some of the show. As you obviously enjoy 60's tv I just gotta recommend "The Prisoner" 1967. My personal favorite of the era. Kinda new here but liking it. Looking forward to more.

is it me, or is anyone else having trouble syncing, i got her clock and my copy at the same time index, or am i so dumb i couldn't tell a bat from a robin....

Struzzylive

Yeah, the TV show is exactly the same. The movie is basically an extended episode.

With the passing of Adam West in 2017: only Burt Ward, Lee Meriweather, and Julie Newmar are still with us. The rest of the series is a lot of fun and is definitely worth watching. However a top ten would do for the channel. The romantic tension between Batman and Catwoman was written into the Season Two series. In one episode, the two share a milkshake with two straws in full costume, the most ridiculous thing ever, while being kinda adorable at the same time. It was so popular that it became a staple of discussions especially among the school aged children on the playground. In the first two seasons, two episodes make up a single story with a cliffhanger at the end of the first. The third season, has single episode stories and adds Batgirl to the roster of heroes. In season two episodes 51-52, features a guest hero with Green Hornet( Van Williams) & Kato( extremely young Bruce Lee, who consequently often trained with Burt Ward). Alfred is a great character and a big part of the story and the only one other than Batman and Robin to know their secret identities. While a couple of characters figure it out nobody will believe them. The Penguins trademark laugh comes from the fact that Meredith had stopped smoking years before taking this role, he had to start smoking for the role and it irritated his throat causing the laugh. He stopped after the show ended.

I love this Batman. And I hope that one day, we will see this Kind of Batman in cinema again. Since the Matt Reeves Version of Batman will stay for hos own, I hope that the DCU Version of Batman will be less dark. In a universe with Krypto, we should have a brighter, more good-natured Batman.

Thorsten Schwarz

this is taking me some time, i can only watch in 15 minute chunks

zynjams

It took me a long time to be able to see Burgess Meredith as anybody but The Penguin. My brain couldn't fathom that he was the same guy who played Mick in the Rocky movies. He was in 4 different episodes of The Twilight Zone, too. I already put in my vote for you to watch that show. William Shatner was on 2 episodes, with one being much more famous. Back to Batman... I can't believe Cesar Romero couldn't be bothered to shave his mustache to play the Joker. They just put makeup over it. lol ... I just noticed it says the music was done by a man called Nelson Riddle.

The ever-useful and always-on-the-utility-belt Bat Shark Repellent!

Mastervodo

A local syndicated station in Philly used to air back-to-back re-runs of the TV show when I was a kid. I would be glued to the TV for an hour then run around the house doing my best Burgess Meredith. WAH-WAH-WAH. Then drink grape juice and make sure it got on my top lip so I could look like the Joker. Then in my green PJs I was the Riddler.

Lemurian Jones

Is this the one with shark repellent? Oh my good lord. Whoever recommended this one, I love you ahd hate you at once, haha.

Mike Miner

Yes, we have gotten multiple reasons for why Newmar couldn’t do the movie, from a scheduling conflict to a back injury. We have never really got a straight answer on that. Newmar IS Catwoman for the first two seasons. Eartha Kitt took over in the third season and did a good job. The show became so famous that Frank Sinatra and Robert Kennedy( who was the Attorney General) wanted to do a cameo appearance.

MrDannySteele

Came here to post this.

Kane

I used to watch the TV show with these same actors as a kid. The cool gadgets. The cool vehicles. Everything about the TV show is the same as the movie.

Mastervodo

I think it'd be fun to watch some episodes of the original show, Jen! I couldn't recommend any episodes - although I personally would like to see one with Julie Newmar was Catwoman (the actors in the TV show who played the villains changed based on availability, mostly); I'm pretty sure Burgess Meredith was always Penguin and Cesar Romero was always Joker, but other than that, it gets a little crazy. There are some aspects of the TV show that were missing from the movie that I think you'd enjoy, too.

Brando83

The show and the movie are exactly the same. They’re using the same sets and props and everything. in reruns the movie would be split up and showed on TV that way. I saw it on Nick AT Night before I even knew it was “The Movie” If you were going to watch a Batman show, I’d say tackle The Animated Series from the 90s. That is literally quintessential Batman. It’s the origin of Harley Quinn, Mister Freeze’s canonical origin, it won Emmys and created an animated universe that lasted from the early 90s until just last year when the the voice of Batman Kevin Conroy and the voice of Joker, Mark Hammil finally played the characters for one last time. That’s literally 30+ years of continuity.

djKENTO

I love Adam West. To me he's like the American Roger Moore (and he was offered Bond after Connery!) He had this amazing ability to keep a straight face no matter how silly the events around him.

Jon Anderson

Every time I watch this era of Batman I’m amazed at Burgess Meredith. Those moments when the gravel in his voice hits and you can just barely hear Mick from Rocky come through. Also watching this in HD it becomes so much more obvious that Csear Romero just painted his mustache white. Which I love.

djKENTO

"On land, you may command. On sea, it is me!" Burgess Meredith, last seen in the "Rocky" films, returns. This was one of my favourite things when I was about 6 or so!

Brando83

This show/movie is actually pretty similar to the Batman comics that were coming out at that time - except the comics were initially made to be taken seriously (by children).

Noremac

You know, Adam West and Frank Gorshin were kicked out of an orgy because they wouldn't stop acting like their Batman characters.

Noremac

Yes, Dick Grayson and most other Robins are Batman’s wards or adopted sons (potato-fucking-po-tah-to). Batman’s biological son Damian Wayne became Robin Number Five. Definitely curious what thing you saw where Robin wasn’t Batman’s wards/child soldier? The 90s Batman movies are tricky territory, especially if you’re talking the Joel Schumacher movies. Major red flag, for his second movie, Schumacher had George Clooney as his leading man, in theory the perfect Batman/Bruce Wayne, and everyone hates that movie. I like only one thing about 60s/Adam West Batman, and that was “him having BatKids”. The BatFamily is definitely Batman’s greatest accomplishment, but no director will touch them because they think teenage sidekicks are stupid. It comes with the Bat-territory, and, not naming names, you can’t be a Prima Donna when it comes to directing Batman movies. Along with “The Batman” (was shaping up to be my favorite, but it looks like they’re going the Nolan route when it comes to Robin), I think this is the only live-action movie to feature Catwoman, Penguin (Mickey from “Rocky”, btw), Riddler, and Joker in the same movie.

Connor Hall

Also Excalibur has ties to Batman too. Zack Snyder is a HUGE fan of John Boorman’s Excalibur and in Batman V Superman it’s the movie that Bruce and his family are leaving when his parents are killed. The armor in the film is inspired by it as is the theme of tearing down your hearoes and showing them as flawed humans.

djKENTO

before he died, Adam West voiced Batman 2 more times in animated sequels to this series. One of them has William Shatner as Two Face which is something I’m REALLY SAD we never back in the 60s. They’re worth the watch.

djKENTO

Man, I used to love the 60's Batman show when I was a wee kid. Don't know if I'll ever be in the mood for this one, but I'm tempted to give it a go with ya.
