I know this has nothing to do with the post but want to say am glad Voyager (Star Trek) is on the eventual list, rewatching an episode in season one thinking Jen will like her, Jen will like that, Jen will like their friendship, it is something you will enjoy in a few years

Harmony through Time

Amazing! I just checked back and saw my vote helped clinched the win, Batman was the only one i voted for, but it was still about 7 behind at the time. I realise that 168 others had something to do with it too, but i'm enjoying my moment lol.

jon bolton

Gene Hackman RIP

Alex

Earnest plea for the French Connection!! I’m not getting any younger…

Marc Peterson

Have you upvoted Excalibur at the movie request site?

Clay F

Jen, your request system is the best I've seen. More user-friendly (more features) than that at PiB. Patrons vote for a movie in a poll or suggest a movie in a comment, but don't spend the few seconds to search the request site and upvote, despite the request site being visibly promoted over and over and over. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

Clay F

There's no way for us to run this site that will make everyone happy! I don't consider it the same as a poll. It's simply a better way for me to track specific requests. Instead of getting hundreds of messages and emails requesting movies by title and I just put them in a spreadsheet, they go on the site instead. It's just a tracker really. I don't expect most people to go through and upvote. Rather, if they have a specific title they would message me to request they can search it there and add or upvote

Jen M

You can see exact vote numbers on desktop! Batman won by 1 vote

Jen M

You can just vote for all of them! I encourage you to vote for ANY and ALL you would watch a reaction to. If the #'s of votes on losing movies is high enough I may still consider watching or in near future

Jen M

Can we add a new category for All Of The Above? You won't go wrong with any choice.

Carlos Stevens

Thank you.

To Wa

Excalibur lost by only one vote (Cue sad music). I love the 1966 Batman show, but Excalibur was my vote.

Nicholas Bielik

I can only see percentages. What was the difference in votes for the top two?

To Wa

I am glad I have nostalgia for Batman (1966). If you don't have that nostalgia lens, god help you.

Clay F

Yep, new requests are buried in the muddled mass at the bottom. Popular movies that patrons would upvote are lost among the zillion obscure movies in the massive lowest substratum of the pile. Movies ranked near the top are weighted toward movies requested in the early times of jenmurrayxo. com -- in contrast, excellent movies newly requested are not noticed.

Clay F

Yes, I think the Movie Request Site (jenmurrayxo. com) is a great idea and I fully support it's continuance. Sadly, I think that re-visits to the site just aren't happening enough, particularly for "newer" film suggestions after they get pushed down the page to never be seen again. There doesn't seem to be any incentive to dive deeper in search of films that may be of interest to many. For instance, The French Connection is "buried" deep on page 11 of 86 using the default sorting and rows per page settings. Unless you're looking for that film explicitly by name or browsing each of the 86 pages looking for films you like, you're not likely to see it, even if it's one you highly like and would instantly upvote. Polls, on the other hand, are a way for people to instantly react to their film preferences, a sort of knee-jerk reaction. Fast and simple. I think the pairing of polls and request site is a good one. Just think the request site may need a little attention for it to be more effective.

Major Peril

Any last minute Excalibur fans? Gotta be a better watchalong than Batman

Batguano

Wow, Batman is only 3 votes from 1st place. The French Connection gets 150 votes here but only 26 votes at the Movie Request Site (jenmurrayxo. com). What's the deal? 1. Some patrons would watch a reaction to The French Connection (so voted yes here) but don't like The French Connection enough to upvote at jenmurrayxo. com 2. Some patrons don't visit jenmurrayxo. com 3. Some patrons who like The French Connection visit jenmurrayxo. com but overlooked The French Connection.

Clay F

Yes, I agree, like you I saw it in the cinema (theatre) upon its release, it made an even bigger impact on than if I saw it elsewhere at home for instance obviously I bought it on VHS when it was available, and later on DVD etc. I sent a copy of it to, Jen, along with some other films, "Westworld" was amongst those too.

Adam Davis

The last Wagnerian (LITERALLY) five minutes of the movie is one of those moments you always remember what theater you first saw it. It was the first Big 80’s Fantasy Film, and that finale was like the opening ceremonies.

Eric Janssen

If the “secret code” from Ready Player One sounds familiar after watching Excalibur 🧙‍♂️, consider your 80’s lore that one bit more educated.

Eric Janssen

The number of votes at the Movie Request Site (jenmurrayxo. com) The Last of the Mohicans = 95 Excalibur = 50 True Grit (2010) = 47 Soylent Green = 29 Batman (1966) = 26 The French Connection = 26

Clay F

Brewster would be sad.

Sequiro

Excalibur should win this by rights, it's an amazing film and the best one dealing with the Arthurian legend, it has an excellent cast and score too.

Adam Davis

Wow kinda glad that Excalibur is in the lead! #TeamPendragon

Jeremy Vickers

Excalibur! 👑

Vincent

Had to go with Excalibur and the French Connection. Excalibur is the definitive King Arthur film. Most other KA only handles portions of the mythos, and the whole film rarely is as good as Excalibur's portion dealing with it. Also, an insane cast. The French Connection is one of the iconic chase scenes in cinema and, IMHO, established the police procedural as a separate genre from the detective noir films and the shoot 'em up cop films.

Glenn Galloway

Finger crossed for Excalibur. It’s a film that deserves to be more widely recognized. It’s also the best King Arthur film ever made (though The Green Knight is a close second).

Nicholas Bielik

I'd personally still rather see you finish off some long-gestating franchises before going any further (namely the Harry Callahan pentalogy; the "Godfather" trilogy; the "Hobbit" trilogy so as to conclude the Middle-Earth saga -- the extended cuts for those, of course; "Inside Out 2;" "Incredibles 2;" and "Monsters University"), but since those aren't on the table here, I'll go with "The French Connection" (as long as you also watch the underrated "French Connection II") and the Coen Brothers' alternate adaptation of "True Grit."

Byrd N. Hand

AFI Top 100 movie. In the poll, currently in 4th place -- not too bad.

Clay F

I’m sure these are all great picks but French Connection is in a class by itself. Won Oscar for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actor (Gene Hackman). Incredible gritty international crime drama. Roy Scheider also excellent. Perhaps greatest car chase ever filmed. I may be a bit biased as I was a 16 yr old usher at the theater in 1972 and only saw it about 100 times! Marc

Marc Peterson

Have you tried it? :-)

Happy Hanukkah

"It's beating None of the above." In other words: "It's better than nothing." :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Same. It's a Masterpiece.

Joel P

Batman 1966 for the funsies. The French Connection for Gene Hackman’s iconic character. A true Hollywood crime drama from the seventies. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Stephen Malloy

No shit.

Mark McKeown

The poll is quite competive. The current results in percentages: Excalibur = 14% Batman = 14% Mohicans = 13% Soylent = 13% The French = 13% True Grit = 12% Troopers = 12% Super/Man = 5% None of the above = 4% I would love to see The Last of the Mohicans surge into the lead. Currently only 8 votes behind Excalibur.

Clay F

It's beating None of the above

Clay F

Yeah, I almost didn't vote for Batman. Also knowing that I could unvote Batman if would help one of my favs win.

Clay F

I also voted for: The Last of the Mohicans (1992) True Grit (2010) The French Connection (1971) I confess, I couldn't get myself to vote for Batman (1966). 😂

John Courtright

Last of the Mohicans is one of those movies where every aspect of the film is just perfection, from direction and performance to production and score. I would really look forward to that one.

Interdimensional Cowlick

Sad to see the Super/Man doc get very little love, it just won a BAFTA over the weekend. Another time maybe.

Mark McKeown

Same. After realizing it was intentionally made to look like it was out of the old comic books, it made more sense.

Zapp Rowsdower

How embarrassing.

Toc

KaPOW! Zap! OOF! Crack! Um...... SNIKT!

Mastervodo

Anaal nathrak, uthvas bethud, do che-ol di-enve! Jen will love the costumes in Excalibur! If I went around saying I was an emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they’d put me away!

Mastervodo

I agree about The French Connection. I somehow didn't see it until relatively recently, and immediately became an enthusiastic convert. AFI notwithstanding, it's surprising how such a successful and well-regarded film has slipped from the public consciousness.

Happy Hanukkah

But did you deserve him? :-)

Happy Hanukkah

Excalibur, for when it was made, is far better than it has any right to be. And it features the early days of many familiar faces in the cast!

Chief

I loved the Adam West Batman when I was growing up. The campiness of it didn't really register to my kid brain. I just figured it was like that because it was old. Of course, now it's entertaining mainly because of the camp.

Joe Blankenship

Adam West is the only Batman I ever needed

George Inotowok

The SUPER/MAN documentary is very good, and I recommend seeing it. But I doubt I'd watch a reaction, as I don't really want to just watch someone cry for an hour and 45 minutes. :)

Bryan Tuck

Glad Batman '66 is in the lead. Hoping for a 3way tie w/Soylent Green and The French Connection!

To Wa

It's currently beating Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story

Clay F

Still early and the poll competitive, but looks like Batman '66 may run away with it.

Clay F

Never heard of None of the above, so didn't vote for that one.

Rob Nichols

Tough choice but Excalibur is such a unique film I had to go with that.

thansen

Excellent poll. Good choices. I voted for the best 3 movies in the poll: *The Last of the Mohicans (1992) *True Grit (2010) [better than the 1969 original] *The French Connection (1971) [AFI Top 100] I also voted for Batman (1966) because of nostalgia and because I would watch the reaction. I would not watch reactions for Soylent Green, Excalibur, Reeve Story, or Super Troopers. Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story is excellent. Soylent Green and Excalibur are ok.

Clay F

The music is a mix of Wagner, Orff and original score by Trevor Jones

Geoff S.

I am also hoping for The Last of the Mohicans. Agree that The French Connection [AFI Top 100] is also a fantastic choice. Hold Down A ("Ames") reacted to it 3 months ago in October 2024 (full reaction posted to her Patreon).

Clay F

Surely y'all would not want to deprive Jen of the music towards the end of this movie!

Happy Hanukkah

The Batman '66 movie is terrible; it's way better to watch two episodes of the series. (Every episode is a two-parter so it comes out to just a little shorter than the '66 movie anyways). The TV series was brilliant and cool; the '66 movie was cheap and lame. Completely not worth your time.

Toc

You've had a great run lately with Producer's Picks... The French Connection would be a fantastic choice, not to mention unique. Not sure other reactors have done that one, Would be hoping for The Last of the Mohicans, but gonna put my money on Soylent Green or Excalibur.

Major Peril

Ah, might explain it ;)

Martin Nicholls

Soylent Green - Remember Tuesday is Soylent Green Day! The Cracker That Tastes Different Person to Person...

Jason K

Dang it it's close! I hope I hope I hope Batman 1966 wins it this time...

Erik Lundmark

To the Bat-Pole!

Banes

I did True Grit 1969

Jen M

I thought you'd already done a True Grit reaction.. >.>

Martin Nicholls

I instantly voted for Super Troopers but it's a better watch while altered, so that might have to wait! 😅

Jack O

I'd watch the old Batman twice. haha

Nik

Incredibly good selection! I'd watch all of them. Hoping The French Connection wins. Though, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story is a very close 2nd hopeful for me.

Jason Scade

I've been waiting two years for Excalibur! If it wins she'll LOVE it.

Geoff S.

This is an absolutely brilliant Poll! Wow! I love it when I see polls like this! 🥸
