Mad Max (1979) Full Length Reaction

Guysss I honestly forgot how brutal Fury Road was and the brutality in this caught me off guard! Even felt a bit like a horror at points and fair warning I dropped a hard J.C. swear at one point 😂 Cool to see where the whole franchise started and I'd definitely be down to watch #2 if you guys wanna see it?

Your Hair look Nice

I can understand, it hasn't aged well. Mad Max 2 is far superior, it's very fast paced by comparison. Much bigger budget, a good tight story and better acting. It's still awesome.

Jason Scade

I've only seen Fury Road. This is my first time watching this one. I couldn't really get into it. I think I dozed off for a few minutes in the middle. The ending seemed really strange and abrupt. Part 2 must be the one that people like the best.

Joe Blankenship

Yes! Watch Mad Max 2. You’ll have a lot of fun.

Julian San

The Road Warrior is my favorite out of the series. Definitely would love for you to check it out.

Justtired

So, Jen, do you think this movie was dark? ;-) Yes, check out Mad Max 2 (The Road Warrior). In the prologue to the Road Warrior they address how society broke down.

Georgius Agricola

That's MM3 Beyond Thunderdome; 2 is Road Warrior.

MertzRocks

The second one is better, and much more polished (way bigger budget). Although it looks like they hired the cast (with their own clothing) from the Blue Oyster Bar in Police Academy to portray all of the bad guys lol.

Eric Denney

Yes on #2. The best in the series. Nostalgia for me as was popular among me and friends as young adults in the early 1980s. Mad Max 2 was first released in 1981 in Australia and then in 1982 in the US. Released as "Mad Max 2" in Australia but released as "The Road Warrior" in the US. Thus, we knew the movie as "The Road Warrior." I noticed the hair change in the Seinfeld reaction. Looks good.

Clay F

Lovely new hair Jen...although as a brunette you were already gorgeous 😉

James_0033

oh wow jen love the hair!

Stuart Biegala

Oh the Road Warrior blows Mad Max away, ya gotta watch it Jen.

Great reaction, I'm happy you were so thrilled by it. 27:10 "A crazy flock of a murder of crows!" 😂 Super stoked for Mad Max II: The Road Warrior. I preferred that to Fury Road (even though MM2 is obv way more dated). Amazing stunt action in MM2 and memorable baddies. And I love Mel's depiction of Max in part 2, he's somewhat like a beaten down, almost-out Dark Knight. A Mel Gibson film that is often overlooked is 'The Man Without a Face' (1993). It's a drama, Mel plays a badly disfigured man who lives reclusively in a small community, not having much to do with the locals. But he befriends a teenager boy who desperately needs tutition help for important summer grades. In the nutshell; compelling, suspenseful and moving. It was Mel Gibson's first film as director. I'll add this to the request site in Sept. 'Maverick' (1994) is superb Mel, he's so charming and rogue-ish in it. Western / comedy / action. Dir by great Richard Donner. ♥ It is awesomely entertaining. Card sharks and hustlers converge for a big stakes poker game in 19th Century Mississippi. 92 votes on your request site currently. #16 in the top 20. www.jenmurrayxo.com

Did you upvote it on Jen's movie request site? :) www.jenmurrayxo.com

Whew, this one was tough to get through. I loved The Road Warrior as a kid and didn't see this one until maybe 20 years ago. I'm glad it launched Gibson and Miller's careers and the franchise (which has much better entries). But man this is pretty terrible. lol

Jen's hair rides eternal, Shiny and Chrome!

WITNESS JEEEENNNN!

Mastervodo

Hope you enjoy this Aussie classic. Filming took place in and around Melbourne. Many of the car chase scenes were filmed near the town of Little River, northeast of Geelong. The early town scenes with Toecutter's gang were filmed in the main street of Clunes, north of Ballarat; much of the streetscape remains unchanged.

MarkGauci85

"Road Warrior" is probably my favorite of the series - it definitely has my vote.

Michael Bauer

'watch #2 if you guys wanna see it?' I enjoy this use of Rhetorical questions lol

Keep going, the next one is great. Mad Max was a worldwide hit (for a low budget "b movie") but it didn't get a good release or do well in the US. That's why the rest of the world knew the sequel as Mad Max 2, but in the US it was called The Road Warrior. I grew up watching it on what seemed like a perpetual loop on one of the premium cable movie channels, then NBC would show a highly edited version of Road Warrior every year on their Sunday Night Movie. I only discovered Mad Max when I stumbled across it at a video store, and it was the weird dubbed one without the Aussie accents. When you get to the third Mad Max movie, you might even want to include a reaction to Tina Turner's music video for We Don't Need Another Hero. She co-stars it and had songs on the soundtrack. Her sax player, Tim Cappello, was also the shirtless, sweaty, shiny sax-man in The Lost Boys. Another bit of trivia: Hugh Keays-Byrne played The Toecutter in Mad Max, and later came back to play Immortan Joe in Mad Max: Fury Road.

Jesus F Christ

A couple of fun facts that stick in my head: when Mad Max was first released in the US they dubbed the dialogue since some nitwits over here though we would not be able to handle the Australian accents and dialogue. And the big rig near the end belonged to a random trucker the film crew met. George Miller asked to use it because he could not afford his own, but he had to assure the owner the truck would not be damaged. If you look carefully just before Toecutter makes 'contact' you'll see the front of the truck is a painted façade! Yes, let's watch Road Warrior! Another fun fact: the actor playing the Gyro Captain in RW played the Mouth of Sauron in the extended version of Lord of the Rings. Now let me check out that hair...

Georgius Agricola

Yes definitely watch the second one, The Road Warrior. It’s basically Max’s redemption story after the events of this film and it’s got some memorable action scenes and characters.

Robert Durant

Who is this millenial, and what did she do with our beloved Jen? Just kidding—I like the hair.

Michael Tuffin

Congratulations on surviving Mad Max! This and Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior are the most brutal out of the 3 but the story really gets going there. I agree with a lot of people that The Road Warrior is the best but you should also watch the 3rd. Some trivia: This was shot in twelve weeks, on a meager $350,000 budget ($1,419,674.84 in 2022 adjusted for inflation), in and around Melbourne and ending up making $100 million ($405,621,383.30 in 2022) worldwide. George Miller described the whole experience as "guerrilla filmmaking", where the crew would close roads without filming permits, not use walkie-talkies because their frequency coincided with the police radio, and after filming was done Miller and Byron Kennedy would even sweep down the roads. Still, as filming progressed the Victoria Police became interested in the production, helping the crew by closing down roads and escorting the vehicles.

Welcome to Australia mate! XD

Brutal indeed 😬 as always brilliant thumbnail that says everything we can expect from this reaction 🔥 I can't not unseen maverick from top gun when I look at the imagine lol . Really looking forward to what will be one heck of a ride along with you Jen 🔥💙

Ian

The earliest movie I remember seeing is Mad Max playing on TV in the dark in the early 80s. I must have been 4. Why do I remember it? Because it’s fucking insane.

PIG

Can’t wait for road warrior

shea Connerty

Your hair looks amazing Jen!

Mark McKeown

I will definitely be finding and watching this with you, even if i have to YT rent it! Aside from Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome, I either haven't seen the first two, or I saw parts (?) of them when I was a youngin'. Also, can I say that you look SOOOO different in this thumbnail?? You're still beautiful, but the wavy hair and lighting (and bright red lipstick) made me question for a few seconds if I had somehow landed on someone else's Patreon. 😂❤️

Over50Gamer

OMG you're hair looks amazing with the new color!

Geoff S.

Road Warrior was my favorite movie growing up. Please watch.

nick bell

The second Mad Max is quite possibly one of the most iconic action films of all time lol. So yes, absolutely yes, you must watch it. Keep in mind when watching these movies, everything you see is pretty much 100% real. Every car, every explosion, every person flying through the air. It's all real explosions, real crashes and real people. These movies are insane, and they are amazing.

Astraeos

#2 was my favorite of the series. I hope you continue.

Paul Hess

more Mad Max please!

Randy Aiken

You'd be MAD not to check out the sequels 😂 thanks Jen

Matt

Good to see you checking out Max's roots! Yes! Please continue and finish the original trilogy. "Furiosa" just hit paid streaming. It should be normal streaming soon! Shiny and chrome!

Prof. Writhms

Awesome timing! Press play! :D Thumb looks intense for you! Mad Max II for sure, please.
