Great music, great writing, beautiful to look at, great performances, and a little connection to the Murray family patriarch, my Grandpa! ☺️

It's so awesome to be back on your Patreon. I didn't know about all these friggin' GREAT movies that haven't made it to YouTube yet. 🤯

The beginning made me think about diegetic/non-diegetic music blending into each other, and while there are plenty of examples like just about all of Edgar Wright's movies, what really came to mind was 2003's Zatoichi, which I of course voted for. Don't really want to describe it a lot, the movie is great, atmospheric, and the soundtrack is balling hard as always - as always a big criterion I suppose. Gotta shill my favorite movie ever, Cloud Atlas, on that count again; music really makes or breaks most of the movies out there... for me at least. If that niche requirement is something you're ever looking after, that Zatoichi movie might be a good, rainy-mood pick.

If you're looking for another Coen Brothers joint I'd recommend Burn After Reading

By the way, I think the radio station in this movie is your spirit animal: WEZY. Some of your movie reactions are delightfully *wheezy* :-D

Great reaction, Jen. As always. Very basic story of the Odyssey based on memory (too late to look it up): Journey of Ulysses to get home after Trojan War. Written by the poet Homer, in something ridiculous like 24 volumes. (Clooney's character named Ulysses, reform candidate named Homer.) Along the way encounter Cyclops, an extremely strong 10-foot one-eyed monster (John Goodman.) Also encounter Sirens, who lure sailors away to their demise with rheir beautiful song whiich enchants and hypnotizes them. Ulysses must get home because his wife is falling away to suitors who were moving in while he was away for 10+ years. More or less. Two of my all-time favorite films are Cohen Brothers' Raising Arizona and Miller's Crossing. Both incredibly well-written and very clever. Both very different. Raising Arizona (1987 - Nicholas Cage, with John Goodman and Holly Hunter from this film.) A really funky comedy, irony overload, with some very cleverly crafted scenes and filmography. Good music, too. Hilariously funny, yet sweet and tender. Miller's Crossing (1990 with John Turturro from this film) is a super-tightly written gangster tale from the 1920s with well developed characters and tons of plot twists and turns. I am confident you will love them both, and hoping you get to them soon!

Outstanding film and superb reaction! 💜😅 Beautiful soundtrack! The bank robber gangster guy was a real criminal, I believe. Nicknamed 'Babyface' Nelson. Apparently the 1930s/40s gangster Benjamin Siegel hated being called his nickname too, 'Bugsy'. It was slang back then for crazy/unpredictable. 1:26:35 Boooo! 👎👎 The song 'Man of constant sorrow' in the film was performed by Alison Krauss and Union Station and it's lyp-synced by The Soggy Bottom Boys. In a live A.K. and Union Station dvd show from 2003, the singer of the song Dan Tyminski tells a short story before the band perform the song.. he says when he and the band got the deal to sing for the movie.. he told his wife about it and his wife said to him "So you're telling me I'll be seeing George Clooney but I'll be hearing your voice? Baby, that's my dream fantasy!" Then Dan looks deflated. 😂😂😂 The audience loved it. I've been very fortunate enough to see A.K. and Union Station live in 2011, they were phenomenally good. Real musicians, bursting with talent. ♥ In ref to the film's chain gang opening, I need to give a shout out for Paul Newman's 'Cool Hand Luke' (1967). It's a seminal Newman performance and it's akin to being the (milder) Shawshank of the 60s. 🥚 Soundtrack to the film 'O, Brother..'. See track 8 for the film version of 'Man of Constant Sorrow' performed by Alison Krauss and Union Station. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMsFR-IuG_7F0EspAuL9NvBtsruK14F4s Alison Krauss - Down to the river to pray (in the movie but not included in above OST playlist) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkWn69VBslw The Coen Brothers have 18 movies, I think. You've did the Coen's Fargo, The Big Lebowski, No Country For Old Men <-- great novel! Re further Coen films, essential viewing I'd recommend; The Hudsucker Proxy (1995 / outstanding Frank Capra-esque comedy, period corporate ladder climbing) Tim Robbins, Paul Newman. It's so hugely re-watchable. ♥ True Grit (2010) Fab remake of a fab original. Miller's Crossing (1990 / period Irish gangsters) 93% RT score. Burn After Reading (2008 / black comedy, spies) Blood Simple (1985 / neo-noir thriller crime) 94% RT score. Raising Arizona (1987 / comedy crime) This has 82 votes on your movie request site. Every film mentioned here is on your movie request site. Awaiting upvotes if anyone is interested. :) www.jenmurrayxo.com An excellent Great Depression set crime/drama/sport film is 'Hard Times' (1975). It's about illegal bare-knuckle street boxing, a boxer and his fast-talking, shady manager. 94% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Stars classic screen tough guys James Coburn (the manager) and mind-bogglingly stoic Charles Bronson (the boxer). A really superb George Clooney (and others) war action / black comedy is 'Three Kings' (1999) - despite the dark humor and Iraq war scenario it has some really touching and moving scenes. From the same director as 'Being John Malkovich'. 94% Rotten Tomatoes score.
