There are several extended cut of this movie. I particularly enjoy the Ultimate Cut (one shouldn't start with it, but for a second viewing it is awesome)

Visually it looks a lot t like the comic, but (as he usually does) Snyder misses the actual themes of the comic. That said, you should REALLY watch the HBO miniseries. It kind of splits the difference with being a sequel to the comic and the movie, but it is one of the best things ever.
