Good news! My contract that prevented me from making games of my own has changed so I can start making games again! To help me learn some new tools, I put together a short... Game? Story? Experience? It's silly and not particularly deep, but it served its purpose on giving me something to learn through so I thought I'd release it for all you fine business fans too. It's all mouse driven and doesn't have anything more demanding action-wise then needing to move your mouse over an object in a limited time frame so it should be pretty accessible to most!
There are three endings and the outcome is all decided in the second part of the game. If you start New Game Plus, you retain any stats that don't tie into one of the endings so it's only ever easier to get the other endings if you replay the game.
There are bugs and there are ways to break the UI. That's okay for me, because this was just a test to learn things that I tried to make a fun experience. If you find anything more than a minor bug, give us a heads up in the comments. I'm especially interested in hearing if your computer has any problems running it. My laptop has the lowest of specs and runs it fine, so I don't anticipate any problems, but please let me know!
Extra benefit is that the program I'm using this time created stand-alone executable files so it's not HTML5 stuff reliant on having the site up. Sorry, Windows only at this time. Will look into fixing that when I make a real project.
Have fun!
If you DON'T want to read the oh-so-witty instructions, here's a snapshot version.
Part 1:
Click and drag your manager to the office block you want to upgrade. You only get managers if you have money to pay them.
If you run out of money or have used your manager for the day, click the Work button.
New events trigger based on how much money you have. The more you upgrade, the more it costs but the faster you make money. (Upgrading every block to level 10 is more than enough.)
Part 2:
Click Work to generate money and glamor. You can upgrade your daily output using the buttons at the bottom.
Spend your resources on upgrades. Looks are your health, Brains are your attack strength, and Talent affects how likely your special skill is to activate something good.
Defeat minions to raise your Talent.
When you think you're strong enough, fight a rival boss to progress up the ranks.
