That repeating, three-note trumpet call (fanfare?) that occurs early in the episode, is (I think) a quotation of the similar theme in the film "Patton" (1970), particularly a scene in which Patton is recalling the defeat of the Carthaginians in the Third Punic War: the sound of ancient, forgotten combat. :) Don't forget Dr. Leah Brahms...
