Early Access: The Blue Brothers [YT Edit]

Early access to the YouTube edit of The Blues Brothers

**PLEASE NOTE: Movies with lots of music like this are extremely hard to get past copyright. We showed as much of the music as we were able to. It's always possible a video may be claimed any time and disappear from early access. A movie like this has a much higher chance of being claimed but hopefully not 🤞🤞🤞

I'm not sure the sequel isn't better, personally.

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I really enjoyed the sequel to this movie, Blues Brothers 2000. The music was awesome -- I still love listening to clips every now and then.

Two reasons Canadian actors do well really well in the states. 1. Canadian and American Entertainment culture is 90% the same. 2. population size. It's easier to be a big fish in Canada's pond because of its smaller population. Once you made it in Canada's smaller pool you automatically gain entry to the U.S. talent pool as a big fish. Being Canadian is actually an advantage if you want to act in the U.S.

That was great! Really enjoyed spending the time with you. Thanks for sharing

The SNL sketches were mostly just Dan and John as Elwood and Jake, respectively singing songs and dancing (generally in a funny way) with the other band members (who are real and talented musicians) featured in this movie.

One of my freshman year college roommates was from Joliet, Illinois. He used to talk just like Dan Akroyd does in this movie. Our two other roommates were named Bob and Rob and he'd say "Baab and Raab." I tried watching the full length, but with the extended release cut. I had to do a lot of re-syncing. Good thing I know the lines so well that I could do it when I heard your reaction to those lines. It makes you realize how much got changed. For one thing, a few of the songs ("Boom Boom" and "Minnie the Moocher" in particular) were lengthened in the extended version. It's an extra 15 minutes overall. I'm going to rent the theatrical release and rewatch it with that copy. This time watching I realized why there is no music in the beginning. You only get music once Jake and Elwood are reunited. I once watched this on TV, which was obviously edited for language. The scene with the nun ended up losing its meaning because she just seemed to be hitting them for no reason. If you didn't realize they were actually swearing, you'd have been confused about why she was hitting them. The waiter might have been familiar because he was Paul Reubens, aka "Pee Wee Herman." And the kid trying to steal the guitar played Argyle, the limo driver in Die Hard.

The fact they talked Steven Spielberg into a cameo playing the clerk processing the $5000 receipt near the end of the movie :D

Thank you Jen! I'm surprised you didn't recognize the County Employee who gave Jake and Elwood their receipt at the end.

This post won't get copyright claimed. Jen's on a mission from God. 😉

Rawhide was an old tv Western co starring none other than Clint Eastwood.

Animal House needs to move up in the queue! There are only 20 requests currently?!?

Even the backing band is legendary. Though Murph was not the original keyboardist, Paul Shaffer (of Spinal Tap, the David Letterman bands, and writer-of-"It's Raining Men" fame) of Thunder Bay, Ontario was. I do wonder what it is with Canadian members of SNL considering that Dan Ackroyd and Mike Myers had the first two successful SNL-based movies in existence.

They wreck a couple of cars in this movie.

Elwood: "It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses." Jake: "Hit it." 🕶️ 🕶️ 💙

Yay!!!
