🖖Star Trek Into Darkness (2013) Full Length Reaction

'KHAAANNNN!'

I LOVED THIS!!! I had NO idea Khan would be in it!!! OMG SO COOL. I love how this alternate timeline has all the elements of the Original Series, but you never know which details are changed or swapped and so it's playing with our expectations the entire time. Also SCOTTY FOR THE WIN once again!! I had a blast with this one. I'm up for Star Trek Beyond, who's in?

Yes! Please upload your rewatch of Star Trek (2009)! And add me to the many people who'd love for you to see "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" -- so much of what you love about Star Trek is celebrated there! Oh -- and did you realize the Admiral's daughter -- Carol Markus -- is the same woman Kirk had a son with in Star Trek II: Wrath of Khan?

Michael Jung

I would totally like to see the rewatch! Why not? It's just another Patreon Perk! Id like to hear your options on a rewatch

Eric S

Does this film have the most bat'leth action we've seen in a Jen Star Trek reaction yet? I don't know if we've had that much in the TNG stuff so far.

Patrick

I think I enjoyed your reaction more than the film, good job :) +1 for beyond

Lean

From her reactions to what she’s seen, I’d bet she’ll love Stranger News Worlds. At least for me it’s a fantastic fit for the feel of Trek, having grown up with a mix of TNG DS9 while they aired and back episodes of TOS. And it’s just a lot of fun.

RocktSurgeon

ST: Beyond is easily my favorite of the 3 newer films

Tim Arnold

JEEEEEENNN!! Glad you'd an awesome time with Khan 2.0. Yes please to Star Trek Beyond. And the re-watch vid. 👍

Jason Scade

A 2009 Star Trek rewatch would be awesome! Personally, I think with the context of the original shows and movie, the new movies hit most people a little differently. Easier to connect on an emotional level understanding these character's past adventures. I think a rewatch would be most excellent!

Josh Higgs

Yeah it’s a shame that they made it so you can now teleport directly to the Klingon home world from earth… or anywhere else in the galaxy.. and simple hand held communicators can talk to people across the stars. It is lazy writing. Why do we have starships if we can just beam everywhere. It’s a stretch to believe. But then again, these movies are a self-contained pocket spin off. Maybe they thought it was the only way to solve certain problems. But in doing so it takes away a lot of what Star Trek fans loved. and yet I do enjoy them. Who knows?

Lord Jeremy

Most definitely, on to Star Trek Beyond! I absolutely loved this alternate timeline stories, paid awesome homage to the OG.

C_Drew

That was great cheers for helping me forget how meh I'm feeling for a few hours 👌 you're the best Jen 🖖 . Saw this in the cinema and seeing it on the big screen with the awesome score was fantastic 👌 Scotty really is the best totally agree Jen and definitely yes on the posting the rewatch 🫶

Ian

Please post the rewatch of 2009 at least for patreon. I am glad your likeing the kelvin verse movies, I always viewed it as after the time split happened pretty much anything goes. I do think v'ger and the whale probe should still show up but I don't think there is gonna be anymore movies in the kelvin verse.

Brad Shelton

A dumbed down version of Trek, but I enjoy the performances. Horrible writing and lazy storytelling, which is a shame with such a talented cast.

David Crabtree

Yes to the rewatch and yes to Beyond!

Simon Haynes

I'm up for Star Trek Beyond - there's a lot of nice moments, including one in particular that always gets my blood pumping! Let's GOOOO

Anthony Peterson

I very much like the Star Trek trilogy w/Chris Pine -- slick and entertaining. As for this movie Star Trek Into Darkness in particular, the RT critic consensus: "Visually spectacular and suitably action packed, Star Trek Into Darkness is a rock-solid installment in the venerable sci-fi franchise, even if it's not as fresh as its predecessor [Star Trek 2009)}." I grew up on original Star Trek and TNG. Watching TNG in real time was a weekly event for me and my wife in our house. I started watching Star Trek 50 years ago. At age 11 in 1974, I had a model of the Enterprise and a model of a Klingon warbird hanging from my bedroom ceiling. My uncle help me assemble (glue) the models. The Star Trek trilogy w/Chris Pine is an excellent addition.

Clay F

Hahaha "Vulcan pinch him", cute

JPDotCom23

Star Trek Into Darkness isn't for me, but I love how enthusiastic you are about Trek! I'd ask you which is your favorite - TOS, TNG, or the Abrams reboots, but I might not like the answer - so I'll just pretend that you agree with me! Keep on Trekking!

Kevin Sommerfield

Your reaction is pleasant - smart and animated. Thanks. Yes to Star Trek Beyond. Yes on rewatch of Star Trek (2009). The different timeline doesn't bother me at all. For some reason, my son refuses to watch the Star Trek trilogy w/Chris Pine -- as if my son does not consider it real Star Trek. My son is missing out, but that's his choice. He is in his early 20's. On Paramount+, he watched the original series and spent the massive time to watch the entire TNG series.

Clay F

I'd watch the rewatch of 2009. It might be interesting to see what you think about it with a little more context.

Sample-Text

I know you watched 'Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan', I was surprised you didn't recognize Carol Markus in this movie.

JPDotCom23

You should have found out now that Captain Christopher Pike was the first, original captain of the Enterprise in the pilot episode 'The Cage', but NBC was still hesitant about the show so they ordered another pilot, actor playing Pike declined to take part, William Shatner was then hired to play Captain Kirk.

JPDotCom23

Yes, 'Star Trek Beyond', I'm in. After production was completed on that movie and a month before it's release, Anton Yelchin, who plays Chekov, died of an accident with his vehicle.

JPDotCom23

I would definitely like to watch the rewatch of the first movie, I want to know what you missed when you first reacted to it; plus since we are already watch Beyond.

FranciscoGios

Please Jen 100% yes!!! Let us see your re-watch of the first movie

Christian Benitez Ugarteche

So good! Wrath of Khan is on another level, but this is my favorite of the rest. Please upload the re-watch. Don't mind the curmudgeonly "hardcore" fans. People like to put themselves in camps and find purpose in staying there. I grew up on the OG series, enjoyed the Next Gen, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, etc., and 2009 and Into Darkness are absolutely fantastic!

Julian Pamplin

I for one would love to see your re-watch of the first movie. I have often wondered what your take would be on films you already discovered on the channel. Ya know.. did you like it as much the second time around.. the revisit watch! I also think it would be cool to pepper in some original series episodes you still haven’t seen. But absolutely no pressure from this peanut gallery. You brought us this far… I’m all in! 🖖

Lord Jeremy

I'd love to see Beyond.

Sample-Text

YYYYEEEEAAASSSS!! This is what I was talking about in the poll comments! I was so looking forward to see what you thought of this since you have seen the OS. So glad you liked it! I would recommend finishing the franchise. Beyond is a fun time. (Scotty has some good screen time. And I really loved the new ally character. Also, the way they use music in the next one is equal parts silly and awesome! (You’ll see what I mean). :)

Eric S

Jen- I'd be VERY interested in seeing the re-watch!!

John Courtright

Yes John, well said!!

John Courtright

Definitely yes on the re-watch!! Would love to see your more informed reactions :)

Lee R.

Yes, PLEASE share your re-watch of the 2009 film with us! I was so disappointed - for you - to not have had the benefit of knowing any of the Trek lore first. Let's continue the iconic journey together!

Pravda

Jen, you mentioned liking "Pike" in this movie. Well... the latest series "Star Trek Strange New Worlds" is Capt. Pike in his hay day. Just saying... 😉 Look up the cast!

Prof. Writhms

I vote for uploading the re-watch!

Allen Bond

I'm with you, Jen. I'm a long time Trek fan and I liked the Kelvin Timeline trilogy. Anyone that says I'm not a "true Star Trek fan" (or whatever) for enjoying it, they can wear a 'red shirt' and beam down. 🖖😝

Prof. Writhms

My biggest take away from this is… I cannot wait for Jen to see Strange New Worlds. Mind will be blown.

Chief

I'm IN for this! Between the multiple TV series, and the multiple movies in multiple universes, we have years of enjoying your incredible reactions.

Joseph Krider

For me, it felt like a meh rehash of TWOK, just less sacrificial... since Kirk is revived at the end, so it was like "cool." Didn't have the same impact as Spock dying in TWOK.

Chrissonator

Excited to watch this with you Jen!

George Roybal

I wasn't a fan of this one, mostly because I thought it was a lazy move to do another "Star Trek 2" with Khan. But I definitely recommend Star Trek Beyond, I quite enjoyed it.

Patrick Egan

Please upload your rewatch reaction. I would love to see it after all the Trek you've watched since.

Zachary Carter

So happy you enjoy ST, it's been my favorite show as long as I can remember. When you have some time you should consider watching The Expanse; it's described as game of thrones in space

Ronny Boss

and id definitely watch the rewatch. Im interested in the new stuff you picked up in the last year

MattN

omg I am SO EXCITED for this!!!

MattN

Excited to rewatch this! And I’m ready to conclude the trilogy when you are, Jen. 🙂

Ian Forbes

YASSSS! Just what I needed, Jen! Fantastic! Loving ALL the Star Trek content! Amazing work as always! Thank you for all that you do for us! Still the best reactor on any platform!

Lord Jeremy
