🖖Star Trek TNG S01E23-26 Full Length Reaction

S01E23 Skin of Evil S01E24 We’ll Always Have Paris S01E25 Conspiracy S01E26 The Neutral Zone

Quad ep drop and 3 of these were voted in your Top 10! So...... TASHA!?!? Wtf! Did NOT see it coming! Also didn't see the CHESTBURSTER 🤯🤯 Besides that we had Picard's old lover, conspiracies, secret meetings, Earthlings from the past and the return of the Romulans! Despite what some people say I liked this season a lot and really looking forward to boldly going on to Season 2. We'll start Season 2 next week! Engage! 🖖

First off, I love your reactions- it's nice, especially to have attention drawn to the score- very cool. A lot of new reactions of start trek out there are so used to Character Development and arcs that they think any tension in the characters will be resolved in the future. sometimes, maybe, but in this era, TV episodes had to stand on their own, and for the most part, character tension was to give something to play out in any episode- the character didn't change, but they got little lessons In most episodes. the TV writer Dan Harmon has discussed how old tv was mostly about something throwing the characters of the balance and solving the problem to get back to normal was the basis of most episodes. it wasn't until later that longer plots with changing characters became more normal, with character traits designed to be resolved or changed in the far future. Good examples of the early days were shows like Northern Exposure and Deep Space Nine, where characters were designed to evolve. in TNG characters do evolve, and there is some progress, but it was not the standard so new teachers might be disappointed when they experience character impulse never changing.

Out of these, Conspiracy was always my favorite. But the visceral, gore filled nature of it caused it to be banned from television in some foreign countries. Namely in the UK. It was only until after it was available on home video that fans were able to view this one. I for one was very surprised to see it on television here as well. Star Trek took some risks and in some cases like Conspiracy wasn't popular with Roddenberry as his control and approval over the series continued to slip away. Part of that behind-the-scenes controversy that started to push Roddenberry further from the seat of power in the universe. The Neutral Zone was another good one. I've read several good novels about people who had themselves frozen, waking up in the far future and the culture shock was very interesting in this episode. Skin of Evil was Denise Crosby watching the train wreck behind the scenes and wanting off. It was a sad first year for many. A large segment of fans hated the series as they had wanted the Original Cast back. Things changed as the second season proceeded and by the third season a lot of people were looking at TNG as a viable concern.
