So Jen, it will come as no surprise to you that I’m a bit of a Dread Expert as I was there as a kid in the Uk when the first issue of 2000ad a weekly comic hit the shelves back in 1977, Judge Dread was just one of the many stories that featured, but quickly became the featured character, back in them days comics didn’t have very many restrictions as to the violence level, as a kid it was great seeing all the blood and stuff. Dreads face was heavily mutilated due to his earlier missions but you never got to see, but due to that fat face is so horrifically damaged he never remove his helmet as it was deemed to be too graphic for humans to see this is one of the disappointing facts that the first movie didn’t respect, Stallone had to have his face on the big screen. There are good and bad points to both movies, the original movie got a lot of the future tech and city correct (bigger budget I guess) but the story line sucks. The Dread movie got Dreads character spot on( Dreads character and the was he talks was loosely based on a Clint Eastwood movie called Dirty Harry) Dread was fearless and a highly respected lawman and didn’t deviate from the letter of the law under any circumstances, if you we’re guilty of the crime you got Judged on the spot. Dreads gun was called the LAWGIVER and was DNA assigned to it user with multiple weapons within each gun same as his bike. I’ll leave it here for now, but if you want more It’s worth watching the other movie as they did an amazing job with the special effects just didn’t capture the essence of Dreads character.

Karl Urban also played Dr. Bones McCoy in J.J. Abrams reboot of 'Star Trek'

Funny that you mention Lena Headey (who was in Game of Thrones) but don't mention who played Dredd. It was Karl Urban, aka Billy Butcher from The Boys. In Stallone's version, he spends most of the movie with his helmet off. This was a more comic book accurate portrayal in that he never takes off his helmet. How many actors would be willing to make a movie where you only see his mouth for the whole movie? Word has it that Karl Urban would love to do a sequel if they decided to make one.
