I thought about recommending the 1967 Casino Royale, but I was afraid I would get voted off the island! It's an absolute disaster of a movie (and a secret pleasure of mine).

You'll also meet up with Sellers again when your Bond journey takes you to Casino Royale 1967. The only thing I can say about that one is, it has to be seen to be believed.

If you want to see more Peter Sellers, I would recommend "Being There" (1979).

The Kubrick you already reacted to was The Shining. The closest thing he did to Dr Strangelove is Lolita (also with Peter Sellers). I think you’d love his Paths of Glory & The Killing. 2001 A Space Odyssey is a masterpiece… very meditative… might even require a big screen. Same for Barry Lyndon. A Clockwork Orange is also a masterpiece but very violent & very disturbing.

That film is so good… & seeing you riveted to it… gave me goosebumps!

One thing I forgot to mention before. The line "a fella could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all that stuff" was actually overdubbed. The original line was "a fella could have a pretty good weekend in Dallas with all that stuff" but then President Kennedy was shot in Dallas (which also delayed the movie's release, since they felt that releasing a comedy so soon after a presidential assassination wouldn't be appropriate), so they changed it in post production to say Vegas instead.

And he was supposed to play a 4th role (Major Kong, the pilot of the bomber) but he had leg problems at the time and couldn't fit in the cockpit.

Peter Sellers actually played 3 parts in this movie: Mandrake, the President and Dr. Strangelove.

Your YT version is just as much fun to watch as your full-length video, Jen. 👍❤️🤗 Great job reacting to such a superb satire, and I had such a good laugh at your observation, "That is officially the biggest explosion on my channel."😮 To answer another one of your questions, US military aircraft were equipped with autopilots as early as WWII, but they were much more sophisticated by the 1960s. 🤔 I hope you're getting lots of rest and drinking plenty of water to restore your "natural essence." Get well soon, and Jen, "Don't forget to say your prayers." 🙏😊👍❤️

Your first Peter Sellers, and three performances for the price of one! He has many more movies worth discovering, my favourite being A Shot In The Dark. But I can tell you about the original novel Red Alert by Peter George, which used to be very hard to find. Peter was an Air Force guy who knew all of the technical details and was obsessed with how easy it would be to blunder into a nuclear war. It's a good read, very realistic and incredibly dark. So dark that Kubrick figured the only way to tell the story was to play it for laughs. Amazing, because nobody thinks of Kubrick as a comedy guy.
