How would he know? He never watched it. The TNG's cast had that opinion of the show due to the serious nature of the cast and crew. The TNG cast forget that by that point, TNG had been going for years. The cast and crew knew each other and enjoyed joking around. DS9 was in it's early days and hadn't found it's feet yet. The cast didn't know each other and took the job seriously. I think it's an unfair characterization by Stewart because he forgets how much of a curmudgeon he was at the beginning too. It takes a while.

RealityCheck

DS9 is so good it can stand on its own without the other Treks. I'll never understand anyone calling it boring - its literally the most action packed series of the lot.

Laura Thornley

Patrick Stewart called it "Deep Sleep 9." I agree with his assessment.

Chuck Drennen

I'm late to the party, but I can't let the (however mild) DS9 slander stand. TNG is great Trek, but DS9 is great television. Period. It experiments with the formula and does serialized storytelling better than a lot of shows do today. Great villains, exciting storlines, thought provoking character arcs, and it brings the borderline naivety of TNG down a peg. Not for everyone, but for folks like me it's an all-time great piece of media. Definitely would be tricky to narrow it down to 10 episodes, so I'm glad to see you're up for going season by season. I do think season 1 could probably be narrowed down a bit though, there's only maybe 5 episodes you'd really need to see there to get what's going on. It's campy fun still, but the show hasn't found out how it wants to stand apart from TNG yet, so they feel sorta similar until the second half of season 1. ANYWAY, DS9 = Good. Rant over.

Tyler Worthington

I can't get through s2 of Picard without throwing up in my mouth a little. Maybe it's better after, but good lord, I'm stuck on like e5 or something. Also I strongly dispute it should be watched after even if that's the intent - the time jump is built in, I think it would be a huge mistake to do that if the intent is to go back to ds9 and so on after - if Jen ends up watching Voyager, think of the CATASTROPHIC spoilers.

Martin Nicholls

Jen has a lot of Clint Eastwood movies on her movie request site,'Dirty Harry' at this time is high on the list..

Celeste McAllister

Thanks for your suggestions! Gran Torino + Christine have both been suggested on my movie request site so make sure you go upvote them :) https://www.patreon.com/posts/submit-movie-89372941 Every Patron gets 2 new requests per month and as many upvotes as they want!

Jen M

I would love love love you would consider watching the movie "Gran Torino" with Clint Eastwood(I know you're familiar with from the Clint Eastwood westerns). Gran Torino is very well known and one of his best movies!!!! Also suggest the movie "Christine" which is a good movie but not a lot of people know about it because it's from the 80's..of course a lot of people will not know it being made before most people were born))). So more than likely it won't win polls with most people not knowing of it. But I think too it will add more views to your channel as it's not reacted by many channels yet. Anyways thank you for your time and love your channel... you're one of my few favorite reactors...

Jeff

I actually think that Picard is the journey that Star Trek needed to take to get back to the track of Star Trek's positive outlook and I found the stories and characters very interesting, even if the stories were a tad inconsistent. As for DS9, I can't agree with the boring tag. DS9 had some of the richest, most emotional, and most layered storytelling in all of Star Trek, especially in Seasons 4-7. It'll never replace TNG in my heart as my favorite Star Trek, but I can't help but admire the quality. Voyager is a funny one for me. At its best, it was peak Star Trek and hit all the marks I look for from Trek. At its worst it was absolute dreck. Some really dubious early creative decisions. Arguably the best pilot of the TNG era shows. Wildly inconsistent, but usually fun.

Rob Taylor

I never want to agree with Chuck Drennen, but somehow I always do...

ArsTropica

Without going into specifics, Picard Season 3 ends in a better place than the TNG Movies.

Roland Khorshidianzadeh

DS9 is boring.

Chuck Drennen

picard is a bastardization of og star trek. she doesnt need to watch anything after enterprise. if you enjoy the destruction of star treks positive outlook and interesting stories and characters then you can have that.

rubberkidney

I think DS9 and Voyager were better than TNG, but you’ll really need to watch Star Trek Picard after TNG and the TNG movies since it is a continuation of the series and movies and the third season is the real ending of the whole TNG timeline. Just my opinion.

Richard Higgs

TNG overall had more high-quality episodes than TOS (it ran for way more seasons after all, but I think it had a higher hit ratio too). But the TNG movies weren't so great. So please spend as much time with the actual episodes as you like, especially after season 1 - you won't be disappointed!

Dan Halstead

I think Voyager was pretty good

Eric S

DS9 isn't worth watching

Chuck Drennen

I have seen most of it but I'd like to re-watch it with my Dad!

Jen M

I am so pumped for TNG.

Patrick

Hasn't everyone?

Chuck Drennen

Jen, have you already watched all the marvel stuff?

Chris

Ahhh its good to see someone already beat me to requesting The Postman lol. Yes I liked it despite its flaws.

RJ MacReady

Def, bud. I'm a very big fan but some eps are just awful. They were pretty creaky and naff when they were brand new and they have aged terribly. However there's lots of fantastic eps of course.

Jason Scade

"peaks and valleys" I think the phrase that applies most to the first two seasons of TNG. i think most of the time when I see someone ask if they should watch TNG is people replying with "Start at season 3" There are some great episodes like Measure of a Man but some of the episodes are definitely a slog. Really excited about the following seasons though. At the same time I picked stuff like Manhunt just so I can see Mick Fleetwood as one of the fish people.

Patrick

We need to get Coming to America on this list :)

Jamdivi

I highly recommend 1993's Dazed & Confused, celebrating it's 30th anniversary coming up on September 10th. An all-time classic. A fantastic "last day of school/coming of age"film, which introduced the world to Matthew McConaughey(as well as Ben Affleck).

David Crabtree

Hey Jen, I would like to suggest Smokin' Aces.

John

If Fast & Furious comes up in a poll for what franchise to continue with, I will give it a vote for you. 👍 I do like Fast 5 a lot.

Jason Scade

Just stumbled upon your channel on YT. Decided to join up here for full lengths. I hope you will continue with the Fast & Furious movies.

Ashley

That would be awesome. Also, another reaction with your sister, please. 💜

Jason Scade

Jurassic Park is my all-time #1 movie! But I havent seen the others, would like to. I have a friend that might join me for some movies that I have seen so I can show them to her and Jurassic Park is definitely on that list!

Jen M

Jen, how you seen any of the Jurassic Park movies? Mainly the first one from 1993. I’m guessing you probably have, since you haven’t watched them for the channel. Just curious.

Joe M

And, thank you for this list. Never saw it before today. Saved me plenty of time from scrolling.

Michael Carr

I am going to throw this one out there...my all time favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger movie from 1993. Last Action Hero.

Michael Carr

Great movie, however, trying to get Jen to react to the rainmaker. Been requesting that movie for about a year.

zynjams

What about 12 Angry Men (1957)?

Paul Deaconu

reading the book again, love it

zynjams

Great choice! I like The Rainmaker (1997) very much. Excellent legal drama based on a John Grisham novel. Solid cast! ♥

Jason Scade

hoping for a great courtroom movie, May I suggest the Rainmaker starring Matt Damon, Danny DeVito, Claire Danes. directed by Francis Ford Coppola

zynjams

You've got the most user-friendly, well-organized Patreon page I've ever subscribed to. Other reactors take notice!

Joe Blankenship

I'm going to echo what at least one person has said here (or maybe elsewhere, I forget) and agree that you should include South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut in one of these polls. You don't need to have watched South Park to enjoy it. And as a Canadian, you still have to answer for what you did to the Baldwin brothers.

Michael Butler

Funny you should ask, I just had to fix that yesterday. In Firefox it was goto Settings, unclick Use recommended performance settings, unclick Use hardware acceleration when available

Please do not imitate PiB on anything, you do a great job the way you are doing things now. Jen is her own person, for instance Jen is the only Reactioner who is considering doing Big Jake (1971), Jen is ahead of her time and has wisdom beyond her years. Go Big Jake!

Beau Mont

🤞

Jason Scade

Thanks for the suggestion! They have a person that created and runs that site. I don't have a resource like this unfortunately but maybe someday! 🤞

Jen M

Jen, have you seen the request system popcorninbed has? https://popcornrequests.com/ seems nifty to get ideas for polls. Lets people link their patreon accounts so only your patreons can request. Maybe you could ask her about it if its something that interests you. seems cool.

Chris

Living Daylights- one of my favorites even though Timothy Dalton was least well received Bond among die hard fans... I think because the next one was awful 😬 and then he quit 😞 too bad, so sad. This one’s title theme was by the band AH-HA! Known for ever popular 80s song “Take on Me” (so you were close when you said: Don’t You Forget About Me). Yes, that actor Jon Rhys-Davies was Sallah in Indy Jones movies, and also Gimli the dwarf!!! Not as recognized in that role. They shrunk him down using camera tricks and put a big helmet on him 🤣 Additionally, they got Chrissie Hynde of the Pretenders to do the vocals for WHERE HAS EVERYBODY GONE? the slightly obnoxious other theme in Living Daylights... might I add the regular score was nice and dreamy in this one too- makes me feel like I’m floating on air. It had to be because the STORY had a musical element to it with all the symphonies and operas.

James Quinn

New member here, but longtime watcher. Wow! You got a lot of movies under your belt. I like how you’ve gone through every James Bond movie so far. Popcorn in Bed channel is only doing a select few- Skipped right over Roger Moore’s best ones: Man w/ Golden Gun and Moonraker. Fun fact trivia for those: Christopher Lee aka Saruman and C Dooku was the Bond villain, and Moonraker was the movie Natasha Romanoff was watching in Black Widow movie. GREAT CHOICE! Now we come to

James Quinn

Hi jen just read your email on THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO. You do have to watch the Swedish version. It's also dubbed in English. It's known as the millennium triology. The other 2 films are THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE & THE GIRL WHO KICKED THE HORNET'S NEST.

Hi jen I watched your recent review of zodiac. You said should I watch Dirty HARRY (yes)and the 2nd movie of the 5 MAGNUM FORCE .Clint Eastwood at his best outsider the Western movies.

I have seen Arrival ALTHOUGH I was babysitting at the time and I did not focus as I would've liked to. Would definitely like to see it again.

Jen M

I hope you're doing well Lee!

Jen M

This is extremely helpful, Jen. I've been away a while due to health issues so have a lot of catching up to do.

Lee Pitman

Has Jen watched Arrival (2016)? I think she might really enjoy it -- directed by Denis Villeneuve (who did Dune). It's a great movie, but more than that it's the most beautiful movie I've ever seen.

Starfire

Thank you for this post.
