Django Unchained (2012) Full Length Reaction

The 'D' is silent, hillbilly

Wow what an epic journey for Django! Loved the partnership between him and the Dr. and what a satisfying ending. Tonally this movie was that weird Tarantino mix of violent and dark with moments of twisted comedy (the bag/hood scene-- OMG I was simultaneously horrified and delighted). Really awesome performances!

*Please excuse my sneezing in this video, I still have a cold 🀧*

Thank you so much for watching with me!

unrelated: about and hour and 5 minutes in and you've just sneezed a second time, and for the second time, I've reactively said bless you....like you're gonna hear it in the pre-recorded video and say thanks.....LOL

David Lipps

My second time to watch your reaction. On my first watch of the movie a decade ago, I had some of the same tension you did. You may not really remember your tension, as your reaction was almost 2 years ago. Thanks for reacting to this. DJango Unchained is one of my favorite Tarantino movies. "Hey, little troublemaker." The scene with the large group of KKK types (on horses) with hoods having eye holes too small was hilarious. A sad serious subject matter but the satire (dialogue and the way they did the scene) was incredibly funny, sorta like with JoJo Rabbit. Don Johnson who played Big Daddy was of the Miami Vice TV series (1984-89) and is the biological father of Dakota Johnson. If I was a freed slave in Texas or Mississippi back then, I would get to Massachusetts.

It’s just Django the D is silent 🀐

Jimmy Smith

Behind Pulp Fiction and Inglorious Basterds, this would be my third favorite from Tarantino. Which if you haven’t seen those two should definitely check out as well. Awesome reaction as always Jen ❀️

Oh wow that's so cool it was his own horse! I was thinking especially in the section where he rides back to Candyland that he was a really good rider!! Leo is such a good actor, but that's crazy he was able to stay in character like that!

Jen M

The two big anecdotes about this movie is... 1) The horse you see Django riding throughout the movie was actually Jamie Foxx' own horse Cheetah. and 2) In the scene where Candie (Leo) cuts his hand and is bleeding while he goes on a crazy rant, Leo had actually cut his hand for real in that scene and he just kept going, and Tarantino used that take. I assume they eventually switched to fake blood because I doubt Leo smeared his real blood on Kerry Washington's face, but I guess at least some of those shots was actually Leo bleeding for real.
