I'll be back.

I get the hype now-- Terminator is awesome!! 😆 I didn't know Arnold would be the bad guy but man was he badass! And Sarah Connor was sweet but by the end she totally kicked that robot's butt! 💪Loved the time travel love story with Kyle Reese! 🥰

Overall a really awesome action movie and I'm SUPER pumped for Terminator 2!!

⭐ Special thanks to Producers: Ronny Boss, Todd Preble, CBonius, MattN, Tyler Gorash, Ed Dunn

Thanks for hanging out and watching with me!

Hahahaha "I don't know, a guy with one gun, sneakers"

JPDotCom23

She was wearing a 'Jetsons' shirt, not 'Flintstones'

JPDotCom23

I was age 21 when this movie was released. I had a crush on Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton).

I'll never understand why reactors ask why the cops are chasing Kyle at the beginning. They literally just saw him steal the homeless guy's pants (well, saw him putting on pants and running, and the homeless guy telling them that his pants were stolen).

Just finished the 1st full reaction. On to T2! 😃

Rick Trujillo

Oh thanks! I have fun with that!

Jen M

I love that you dress up for your reactions too cool.

Ken - Kendo161

Got a request coming next month for the sequel to Bill & Ted! 👍

Jen M

Lolll 😆👍

Jen M

"WHOOAAAH boi is that guy evil" Again, this is the sort of chat that made me think "yas, I go Patreon"

Tim Christensen

Another time travel related movie for this evening's pick. It's like the universe is preparing you for one of the greatest time traveling stories there ever was.... 🙄😉😁 Really looking forward to T2 a lot. I wonder what other time travel related films will be in your future.

Daryl

Lol true!

Jen M

Oh, that reminds me - this is one of the few movies where the sex scene is actually justified by the plot :D

crawlie

Thanks crawlie! Yes so many cool little details! And I loved Kyle Reese being John's dad! Yes I definitely expected Arnie to be the good guy in this one! For #2 I didn't know anything going in.... 😆 Oh I'm excited to see Michael Beihn in The Mandalorian!

Jen M

Oh ya I've heard that. I'll stop at #2 for now because its so awesome! 👍

Jen M

Thanks Miles! Ya I did notice the Bishop but I wasn't sure it was him! That's cool Cameron likes working with the same actors 😊 Oh I'll add True Lies to an upcoming poll 👍 Ya I think I'll leave Terminator at #2 because I loved it so much!!

Jen M

Such a cool movie, with a cool premise. Not quite the action movie you were expecting I think? This is one of the great movies that were coming out of the 80s/90s where they play with genre a bit. This is probably more a sci-fi/thriller movie (though definitely with some Action thrown in), whereas T2 is more firmly in the Action genre. Predator is another Arnie film that is definitely more Action, but mixed with something else as well, and thus I recommend it for that reason. I saw this movie when I was a boy, so it's always so interesting watching someone try and figure out what's going on, considering I've been steeped in it so long, and it's long been part of pop culture. Bit like Star Wars - this is probably the closest I'll get to wiping my memory and watching it for the first time again :D It's funny, so many of the reactors I've seen watch this movie all think that Arnie will be the good guy, because of his reputation. I know you've seen T2... so I'll mention that when they go on to watch that movie they now tend to think Arnie will be the villain in that one (which originally was Cameron's intention, but the marketing back when the movie came out completely gave it away). Interested to see how you went with it! Love the little things about this movie too. So the Terminator gets blasted in the car explosion at the beginning, so that's why he loses his eyebrows. Then as he gets progressively shot up, his flesh begins to die - hence why he get increasingly pale, attracts flies, and the random janitor asks if there's "a dead cat in there". It's also crazy to think that Kyle's admiration and drive to do anything for John Connor is likely subconsciously because of their relationship. From memory, Michael Biehn made a joke after Aliens about how strong women are always having to carry his injured ass around :D We'll actually see a character played by Biehn later on in the Mandalorian, but naturally he won't look much like he did here, considering we're nearly 40 years later! Thanks for the reaction

crawlie

As good as The Terminator is, and it's fantastic, the sequel is even better. I don't recommend watching any more of the sequels after that, however. Their quality tanked, in my opinion.

Todd Preble

Great reactions, Jen! I don’t know why, but for some reason I thought you had already reacted to the Terminator movies. Maybe I’m just thinking of “Alien” and “Aliens”. I did see your reactions to “Aliens” but not “Alien”. I probably just got confused. Yes, that was Bill Paxton who was one of the punks Arnold kills in the beginning. Also played Private Hudson in “Aliens”. And Michael Biehn as Kyle Reese was also Corporal Hicks in “Aliens”. He also had the start of romantic thing (at least I thought so) with Ripley in the Director’s Cut of “Aliens”, which I believe was the one you watched. And of course, the love story between Reese and Sarah Connor here. Not sure if you noticed him, but Lance Henriksen, who played Bishop in “Aliens” also played Detective Vukovich in this movie. James Cameron seems to have a stable of actors he likes to work with. You might want to watch, “True Lies” (1994), another James Cameron / Arnold Schwarzenegger / Bill Paxton spy / action / comedy movie. It also stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Tom Arnold. I would suggest stopping at "T2 - Terminator: Judgement Day" and "Aliens". The rest are pretty much meh.

Thanks Eric!

Ah, so you've already watched 2? I was gonna say that it has a reputation for being better, and that's not wrong, but I think the key is that, as with the Alien/Aliens duology, they're *different* movies. Instead of trying to just do the 1st again, but bigger (like The Mummy series, for instance; lots of examples, but that's a perfect example of a great start to a series that just tails off because they're trying to just do the same thing again without innovating.) For both the Alien franchise as well as Terminator, you probably ought to stop after the first 2. With Alien, David Fincher directed the 3rd movie and he's a genius director (maybe the only one that can actually get me to a movie), but it was his first movie and the studio interference ruined it. So it might be interesting to watch something that covers the making of the 3rd, but the actual movie is eminently skippable. As for Terminator 3, I think there were elements of it that I liked but it was just pretty milquetoast overall. And they've tried rebooting it (canonically erasing everything after 2 and making a different 3) 2 or 3 times by now, so that demonstrates how underwhelmed everybody is with 3, fans and creatives alike. HOWEVER, I want to at least make you aware of the tv show The Sarah Connor Chronicles. Lena Headey - Cersei from Game of Thrones - plays the titular Sarah Connor and is *fantastic*. Great acting and she's also given really good material to work with. I thought the first season was pretty good, not great; John Connor really should've been a better character by that point in his story, even though obviously Sarah is the lead. He grows enough that the 2nd was much better, IMO, and Sarah continues to be a really great, well-written character. BUT the 2nd season ended on such a cliffhanger, and then it got cancelled. I think it was really about to take off, too; I was really invested in what was going to happen next. SO... I think it's pretty damn good, although not quite great, and it ends so unsatisfyingly... I honestly have no opinion as to whether you should watch it or not. It's very good, but I wouldn't say you have to go out of your way to check it out (and it's just really hard to recommend something that was cancelled like that). My goal was really to let you know about it and hopefully give you enough info that you can decide for yourself whether you want to check it out, if you think you'll like it.

Eric

Oh true! He's the master of sequels! Too bad there couldn't be a Titanic 2 lol 😆

Jen M

And as great as Terminator is, T2 is even better. James Cameron has this knack for making great sequels (Aliens)

Rick Trujillo

I definitely liked them both but a slight edge to #2 for me. Tho #2 wouldn't have meant as much to me without seeing the first! 👍

Jen M

Glad you enjoyed this one. I personally think this is one of the rare examples where the sequal is better than the original.
